Complete NCAA Tournament Payouts

4-WidemanvsOchefu

The NCAA tournament isn’t just about making a name for yourself. It’s also about the money. The NCAA awards tournament credits to each conference for each game played in the NCAA tournament (excluding the championship game). Each year the conferences receive money for the total credits earned over the past 6 seasons.

Skipping all of the boring math, estimates value a single tournament credit at around $1.7 million total over the next 6 years. Here is a look at how much money each conference will be receiving and the average amount each school in the conference will receive. Keep in mind that not all conferences divide tournament revenue evenly, so a school could potentially receive significantly below or above the average amount for their conference

Despite the public continuing to try to use “Power 5” in college basketball, the Big East once again proves the phrase meaningless. The conference pulled in more money per team than the Big Ten, Pac 12, and SEC. Add in the fact Villanova won the national championship and it’s safe to say it was a pretty successful season for the Big East.
