Who would YOU want to see in the 2013 class?

Just sort of carrying this over from the Luke Fischer thread to keep that more about him.

Here is your 2013-14 roster with currently signed/committed players:
    (C = Combo)

    So. - PG - Chris Harrison-Docks
Jr. - PG - Jackson Aldridge
Sr. - CG - Chrishawn Hopkins
So. - CG - Devontae Morgan
So. - SG - Kellen Dunham
Jr. - SF - Andy Smeathers
Jr. - SF - Roosvelt Jones
    Sr. - F - Khyle Marshall
    Jr. - F - Kameron Woods
    Sr. - F - Erik Fromm

Barring anything unexpected, that leaves three open spots. What holes do you think there are in that lineup? Something to keep in mind, in my opinion, is the graduating senior class and needing someone to fill those roles the next year, whether that's someone already on the roster or potentially one or more of these freshmen.

So - who would you want to see commit to BU for 2013?

    Realistically?

I think it'll ultimately look "something" like Jaylon Brown, Schuyler Rimmer, and RJ Curington

Who would we want is a bit different. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if one or even two of those two above were swapped out with a top 100 guy (though the difference between 75-175 is mostly overstated)
    ....this isn't the Horizon League

RE: Who would YOU want to see in the 2013 class?

It's such a tough question to answer because we know so little about so many recruits, especially those out of state. I think the 3 that have really stood out to me are Beachem, Nichols, and Berry. That's an unrealistic class because we know Stevens wants a guard (and it would be extremely difficult to land all 3 anyways), but with great depth at guard for the 2013 and 2014 I would absolutely love to have that class. Those 3 would solidify the 3, 4, and 5 spots for the next 4 years. You can even sub in Hayes or Rimmer and that is an outstanding young frontcourt for a mid major (or for most BCS teams even).

As far as choosing the best guard I don't even know where to start. Jackson and Brown have been the most talked about and I would be happy with either of them. I haven't seen enough of either to make a choice. I don't know much about Davenport but absolutely love his upside, and with the depth at guard I like the idea of taking someone with a high ceiling even if he still has a long way to go. And then there is Fuller who I know very little about, but he seems like he would fit the system well playing alongside creators like Aldridge and CHD (and Hopkins if he would earn playing time as a freshman).

Edit: And I left out one of Title's picks in Curington. Obviously he would be great as well as someone who is just outside of the Scout top 100 as the #28 SG in the class.

Who I would really like to see:

Austin Nichols, Nolan Berry and Demetrius Jackson.

Who would I be happy with:

Schuyler Rimmer, Luke Fisher, Jaylon Brown

Figure that Beachem is a lock at ND, although I think I would still take Nichols and Berry over him, based on needs.

VJ Beachem won't be a Bulldog. Demetrius Jackson won't be a Bulldog. HIGH likelihood Nichols, Berry, and Fisher won't be Bulldogs. I'll be patiently waiting for the 11th-hour out-of-left-field-like-Woods-and-Aldridge guys to verbal.

I disagree that we can't get any of these guys. Beachem is starting to seem unlikely and I never felt like we had a good chance at Jackson, but I don't feel either are for sure not coming. Seems like we have an extremely good chance at Berry though and I like our chances at Nichols as well.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with your opinion that we won't get these players just with the certainty of your opinion.

It would be great to land an early commitment or two from the staff's top targets, but I won't be holding my breath, either.

The biggest need to me is getting another center in here. Smith is gone and Woods may never have the size/strength to do a great job guarding 5's just based on his frame. First choice here is obviously Austin Nichols. The staff has a big uphill battle to win for him, though. Schuyler Rimmer & Maverick Morgan are in that same group in my mind.

With Fromm and Marshall both being seniors, I think the next biggest need is another forward who's more of a skilled 4, but can play the 5 if he has to. Nolan Berry is probably the first choice, but I like Nigel Hayes here too. His description reads like a slightly bigger, perhaps slightly more skilled version of Marshall.

That last scholarship is really completely open to me. The guard and wing spots are basically completely covered for 2013-14, so you have the luxury of taking the best available regardless of position. If you can get D. Jackson or Beachem here, fantastic. If not, I'd sort of prefer a SF with upside like Davenport. I'd love to see Dunham get the chance to play some 2 just because he'd be so hard for smaller guards to cover running off of screens. If he's at the 2 he's your 5th guard on the roster, which leaves room for a wing with Jones and Smeathers.

RE: Who would YOU want to see in the 2013 class?

I refuse to get attached to recruits like I did in the Cody Zeller saga...lol

But I will say this....of the players I have seen I think Jaylon Brown is one of the more savvy players and would look good in a Butler uniform.

I still think Mav Morgan is a guy that would fit well here based on the way he plays...of course I don't know anything about the demeanors or personality of all of these guys we are targeting. And that plays a huge role in what the staff decides to do.

Brad offered Irvin/Berry and Beachem before anyone else in the 2013 class. Berry has to be a guy they really want. Supposedly his skill level is really good. I agree about Beachem to ND. That just seems like it is swinging that way. And I think Fischer is going to end up at Wisconsin....so

Brown/Berry and Mav Morgan are my thoughts right now....but what do I know I thought we were going to end up with Zeller. I still can't believe he wants to play for Crean.

    Go Butler.

seems like mav morgan could see a slight value increase with the commitment of a wiry 4 who likes to face up a fair amount.

i would still like to see nigel hayes, assuming we can't get austin nichols.

can we be absolutely certain curington has no offer, since he doesn't report them? have they offered jaylon brown?

when do you think the next commit happens? it would seem the berry commit applies pressure, since there is only one spot left for you whether you are in the frontcourt or backcourt
