Luke Worthington - 2013 Power Forward (Offered)

Luke Worthington is being recruited the strongest by Harvard, Boston College, Richmond, Cal, Maryland, Stanford, Rice, Davidson, Virginia Tech, Milwaukee, BYU, and Vanderbilt. I think Butler would be a perfect fit for Worthington. He's got good size for a power forward at 6'8 235. He finishes well around the rim and has a great mid range jumper. Most of his points happen in transition because he runs the floor so hard. At the end of the day he is a bruiser that loves to bang in the post, play defense, and get rebounds. Every espn top 100 recruit that he has matched up against has been held to 6 or less points. With the return of Philip Nolan to the state I would say Worthington is the second best big man in the state of Wisconsin. His athleticism puts him ahead of Luke Fischer and Toby Hegner. Though he plans to play basketball at the collegiate level he is also being recruited to play football by Wisconsin, Stanford, and Northwestern. A testament to his strength and footwork.[hr]
The upside to Worthington is that schools are behind on the recruitment trail. So far the only scholarship offers are from North Dakota, and South Dakota State. I dont understand the hesitation by other schools to offer him considering he is also a really good student, but being the Butler fan that I am I want to see him as a bulldog.

sorry @ptdt1242 that I' m not a "regular" but I have more info on him...this past summer he played for Wisconsin Playground Warriors AAU squad. Maxpreps.com has him on the 2013 top players to watch list. One of six selected for all tournament team at the Jayhawk Invitational this summer. He goes to Homestead High School in Mequon WI. Articles concerning him are listed below...

Wisco, not meaning to dis you, just that there are some regulars on this board who do a lot of in depth research on recruiting and have some inside info as well as a feel for the type of player Butler is looking for. Of course, any info about possible recruits is always welcome. Thanks for the research you have provided and please keep it coming. And if you have any inside info on Luke Worthington they are always appreciated too.

He's being recruited by schools like Harvard, Stanford, and BYU and you think he will end up in an IPFW caliber program...thats interesting

    RE: Luke Worthington

I tried looking up some information and sent out a few emails to people who may or (likely) may not reply and so far have found nothing to suggest Title is wrong. I just don't see a lot of info out there, and usually if a player has incredible upside you will start to see better mid major offers by now. If the original description of his is correct I do disagree that Butler has already filled the spot, as I expect them to add someone who they are 100% sure can play the 5, but based on all the information I have (which again is very little) I would say Butler has several better options out there.

    RE: Luke Worthington

Based on the info that is currently out there I would make the same assumption as ButlerWay and Title, however I have watched him play in person. Making evaluations strictly off of the internet is misleading. He is simply better than Fischer and Toby Hegner, two kids that have bigger offers on the table. Thats why Worthington started over, and got more minutes than Fischer or Carson Shanks when he played for Swing and Playground Warriors. The only reason I started this thread was because I feel he is Butler material and that is setting the bar pretty high.

    RE: Luke Worthington

It doesn't sound like many teams are buying his potential. I don't mean to sound harsh, but there is almost no chance he gets an offer from Butler. Even if he does blow up to Butler's level that spot will likely already be filled by then. There are just too many good post players that Butler seems to have a very good chance at.
