Well, things aren't going to get any easier. Hopefully we see the hardnose defense return. Otherwise this could be painful.

Sounds odd to say it, but if we want to win the Big East, at Villanova is almost a must win.

I'll be surprised if the game's competitive. Butler's lack of individual talent has caught up with them in conference play when opposing coaches can take away actions and then it's down to 1 on 1 matchups.

They had a great season up to the last couple of games, but water normally finds its level, and I think a 9-9 season in the Big East, given their lack of quality depth at guard and complete lack of production by the bigs would still be a pretty big accomplishment.

Thompson and Nze need to cut down on their turnovers, but outside of that, this team's margin for error is very thin.

    [insert gigantic eye roll]

If you turn it over a million times on the road against a top 70 team and that team also shoots 60% from three, you’re gonna get crushed. That’s how it goes.

Lavall’s teams - and this team until the last couple weeks - have always protected the ball well. It’s likely they’ll get back to that. And when they do, the defense will have a much easier time settling into its half court D and controlling the tempo.

Butler will be 3-3 after this game. Then the Markus Howard show comes to Hinkle. He could easily score 40 and send Butler into the depths of the league. Things could get sideways very quickly.

The lack of effort and mental mistakes/unforced errors has me very concerned. Matt Howard tweeted about all the turnovers. The D has 10+ fouls the last 3 halves... almost 60 FTA. Nze/Golden are struggling big time. Thompson has been horrendous and melted down with that T. Will Vall change anything up for Nova?

Butler plays one bad game (I don't consider the SH game a "bad" performance, it was a battle from the tip) and now our season is over we're out of the tournament? Y'all need to chill a little bit.

As for the Villanova game, it's going to be tough. Guess what? EVERY game is going to be tough. We'll probably a lose a few more games, but every team in the Big East is going to lose a few more games. Seton Hall isn't going undefeated.

Regardless of the outcome, we want to see Butler come out and play tough and smart like we did prior to the DePaul game. Get back to making defense a priority. On offense, stop the sloppy passes, get in the lane and move the ball.

Also, we match up better with Villanova, and this isn't the Villanova of yore. If our defense shows up and/or Nova doesn't shoot lights out from three like DePaul, we'll be in this game. It'll be telling how we come out of the gate though. Let's see that fire and effort we saw the majority of this season!

Problem is this-where did DePaul wreck us today? The perimeter. What does Nova do? Launch 3s.

The one thing that has concerned me all season, and I have tried to ignore it because our turnover rate has been solid, is the number of boneheaded passes this team makes. How many of our turnovers today were from horrendous passes?

I'm not really down on the team, this is just a bad two game stretch. Start protecting the basketball and everything else falls in place. Are we a top 5 true talent team? No, I never believed that. Can this team beat anyone on any given night? I believe that 100%. Allow the grind of conference play to prepare us for the tournament and make some noise when it matters most.

Atleast we should torch Xavier then, because I'm not sure that team could shoot from the HS line.

And DePaul won't ever shoot like that again, in like ever. But, it has been seen much of the year we give up plenty of looks and today it hurt. I'm not *worried* about it against most big east teams, but Nova feeds off it and that game could get away as quickly as today did.

A win here and this team is right back in the hunt for first. Lose and we could fall to 7 or 8. Can’t let this shiit snowball. This is the real test of our leadership that has been praised all year.

Would it be too much to ask Nova to shoot on Tuesday like Vanderbilt did today? I’d love to see that 3-pt stat line show up.

0-25 is damn near as impressive as the percentage DePaul hit today.

I think I read it was the first time in 34 or something like that years that Vandy didn't hit a 3 in a game. 25 misses. That's takes effort.

Defensive communication is going to be key. We got lost on a lot of DePaul's screens which left people wide open. We've typically been pretty good about communicating on switches, but Nova will definitely eat us up on the perimeter if we leave them hanging. The good news is Villanova doesn't have a Powell-type scorer or Paul Reed-esque matchup problem, and they're relatively short with no players over 6'9". I'd get Nze and Golden involved early and often in the post, so long as they make quick decisions and don't wait until the double team engulfs them to make a move.

We also need a return to form from AT. He was riddled with fouls in the SH game, and made poor decisions in the DePaul game. He's the leader on the floor, so we go as he goes. Play lockdown D, stay on the floor without fouling, and limit turnovers.

They had made one in every game since the 3-pt line became a thing 34 years ago. Now apparently there are only two teams left - UNLV and Princeton or something like that.

I expect another loss on Tuesday but hope we perform closer to where we were. Nova has the talent and the Pavilion. Jared and Hinkle questioned our three point defense earlier this season and they may have been on to something. Teams used to shoot threes late in the shot clock but now they shoot it whenever. The defensive rotation the last two games has not been good nor has switching.

Initially I viewed the matchup with Nova favorably. Yesterday's game, not Seton Hall, altered that perspective to some degree. If BU does not play with energy and effort, this team can lose to nearly anyone. DePaul game was puzzling from the stand point of a trend or an aberration. I tend to think the latter. The question to be answered, is whether BU's confidence has been permanently shaken and what is mindset and approach entering this upcoming game? Though out the DePaul game I expected BU to wake up and catch some fire but it never happened. This is new territory for this season's team.

If we continue to play Nze and AT at the same time for long stretches we will struggle all year long. It’s crazy that we had so much success starting those two together all year. I think it’s catching up to us because the defense hasn’t been playing lockdown. We all agree tucker and Sean have made strides on defense and rebounding along with other things like playing within offense for tucker especially. He has clearly been our best player for the past 3 games and he continues to get subbed out like a YoYo. Hopefully LJ makes the call to put him at 4 and bring Nze off bench for energy. I also really liked what battle did yesterday.
