Welcome, Brett! Hoping much of what you mention plays out. Also, need to see our guys be able to create better off the bounce to create movement in the new offensive system.

If Butler will play some looks with Baldwin, Battle, Tucker 1-3 there will be plenty of creating off the bounce and honest defense being played that should open it up inside. If used right, there's no question this team has enough fire power.

    Welcome Brett,
I'm sure most will really appreciate your insights and reflections on Butler rotations and matchups, as well as general understanding of the game. As an aside I think Golden will be a beast when his career is done. The talent pool Butler is starting to accumulate is only getting stronger, let's hope team chemistry follows suit and watch Butler do some real damage.

    Go Dawgs!

Wow, Brett. A longtime Zags and Butler fan?! You’re basically an older version of me! Welcome to the forum.

You make a good point, and one that I have seen in football. Players get better, and sometimes a change of scenery does wonders.

Also, as a PSU alum, I have loved watching your fellow Texan Bo Nickal. Most exciting wrestler I think I have ever seen at the collegiate level.

    It's a small world....and all that.

Just wait if @willisbrown indeed moves to Nashville and we're both drinking and drunkenly posting to game threads. That's got glorious trainwreck written all over it.

Disappointing to hear that Hastings still can't go.

I think it's time to give up on that hope. I kinda had it too but he can't get on the court. I am retiring that hope. I didn't really pencil him in for much this year, but I would liked to see something to know if we have something in him. Oh well.

I didn't subscribe - does it say he is out for the whole season? Can you redshirt someone two years in a row?

Why post that the athletic has an article on butler and not provide a summary?

I believe you can if granted a Medical redshirt by the NCAA. I don't know if Hastings' situation would qualify.

If possible and Hasting is willing I’d redshirt again. I was hoping to see him some this year. Need a big year from CD

Jordan said in the article that they're planning to get Hastings back to full contact in a couple of months.

As much as I would like Hastings and CD to be impact players this season, I think we are overvaluing how important they might be. Their development could be key for the future but the roster *this season* should be fine if they do not take major leaps. Kamar, AT, and Battle will take up all of the minutes in the backcourt while the "3" and "4" can be held down by McDermott, Tucker, Nze, Golden, and some Battle minutes as well. Then center gets minutes from Smits, Nze, and Golden.

That's a solid eight-man rotation and I'm not sure the team needs more than that. Having adequate depth with Hastings/CD in case of injury is definitely a plus (and it's possible one or both are good enough to crack that rotation) but that 8-man group should win games. No reason to rush anyone back from injury, imo.

Lukas-I cannot agree more mi amigo. I don't get where expectations for either player are coming from. David will be forced upon us early I'm sure, but soon enough should find his way to the bench except for maybe spot small ball 4 minutes. Hastings-we know nothing other than he cannot stay healthy.

Unless there are a slew of injuries these two will not have a big impact this season.
