Wait, did they not get rid of Chambers? I thought he was on his farewell tour last season?

    I can understand your confusion.

You’d think 7 seasons and no NCAA Tourney appearances, including with our highest rated recruits in history - Tony Carr, Lamar Stevens, Josh Reaves, and Mike Watkins - would be enough to get one fired. But alas, no. He got extended.

We did win an NIT, so I guess there’s that.

Penn State is a football school, the powers that be do not care about basketball it's that simple.

More nuanced than that, but basically.

Since it’s technically part of the 2018-19 season I thought I’d post this here..... does anyone else see some similarities in UVA’s team and the Butler teams from 2002-2011 (in that time frame)? Tough defense, value the ball, never flustered, good game plans and plays to team strengths - and a coach that does not ever seem out of his element.

Yes. Very similar. Barry Collier discussed coaching with Dick Bennett, Tony's dad, over a weekend in 1995 that was turning point for Butler's program. David Woods wrote about it in Star most recently in 2016, which is when Virginia bounced ua out of tournament. So that shouldn't come as any surprise.

Virginia’s Head coach Tony Bennett said this. Sound familiar?
Butler AD Barry Collier learned about these philosophies from Dick Bennett when he coached at Wisconsin. So there was a little bit of The Butler Way in their championship last night. They just have better talent and a more experienced head coach. Bennett has cited his faith as impacting his coaching philosophy, in particular his use of his father's "Five Pillars": humility, passion, unity, servanthood, and thankfulness.” Hopefully we can accomplish what they did someday.

Faith and basketball has zero correlation.

I’ll never understand the “leave it to God” crowd. Players win games, and God probably doesn’t give a rat’s ass about the NCAA ‘ship.

I’ll give Tony credit for one thing; it would be nice if Butler played with passion again.

While I agree with you, I wouldn’t say zero. Look at Clemson football... Dabo has that upbeat Bible-thumping folksy attitude style, and it reasonates with and motivates his players.

This is as good a place as any to put this.

Never forget why these guys went to Butler to begin with.

Polarizing as they may be, they represented the school well.

I know people have had there problems with the way PJ played. U can never take away how much he enjoyed, and cared about Butler. He is a great representative of this school!!!

I wish we had an entire team of players with that attitude.

When teams come together like that, you get TTU and UVA.
