I wonder how this will affect their commits for next year. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
Illinois is a real puzzle both in football and basketball. The only major state college in a state twice the size of Indiana, significant emphasis on high school sports, a huge metro area, and they cant's seem to develop into a powerhouse.
The huge metro area is a double edged sword and it's more so a problem... go to BBR and look at where players are from on that D Will, Dee Brown, Cook, team...
Mizzou has offered Cuonzo Martin. Apparently no Crean . . . or Holtmann (assuming Marting accepts). http://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...424/cal-cuonzo-martin-weighing-offer-missouri
Cal lost just last night. Obviously, Martin was giving 110% to his job while he was still coaching there. No distractions. I'm sure that's what he was preaching to his players. So, Mizzou interviewed, vetted and came to a decision in about 18 hours. Man oh man, that is one efficient process!!!!
Good god that's a lot of money for a meh program and a fairly meh coach. I think that'll put him among the top 12-15 highest paid, immediately.. AT MIZZOU! With 2 tournament appearances in the last 9 seasons.
REPORT: #Illini Basketball is mulling over a potentially massive $4.8 million/year offer for UVA’s Tony Bennett. Absurd money being thrown around. Wow! Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
I wonder how long it took Cuonzo to call Michael Porter Sr. and the money logistics to get him to come back to Mizzou???
I'd say it's a very good time to be an in demand coach. Also a very good time to be representing an in demand coach. Not sure why, but it sure seems like the "going rate" for a power conference basketball coach has increased significantly compared to a recently as a year or two ago.
