If the Big East is back to being a top 3 league next year, Butler May have the most difficult schedule in the country. Butler’s schedule was seventh most difficult in 2017-2018, and next year’s is probably tougher.

Would anyone be surprised with us getting Ohio State in the Gavitt game?

Don't know why but just have a feeling it will be Minnesota (or maybe I have the infamous "inside source").

*Disclaimer - I have no inside source at all

I was just thinking based on how they usually set these matchups that we fit into a similar "tier" in the BE as Minnesota does in the B1G Ten. Looks like Creighton, DePaul, and St John's have all played every year, so I would assume a couple of those guys sit out this year (unless someone knows definitively). After that, it's just kind of a matching game and I just feel like Minnesota, a solid program who is kind of bubblicious fits into the mold of a Butler at the moment.

I’ve thought we will host Iowa. I think neither of us player in it last year and they definitely do tier it.

It will be a brutal, brutal schedule.

Ah ok. Well, I agree it would make sense. Illinois, Minnesota, Indiana, and Rutgers (yes, really) are the four big ten teams currently projected to be in the 30-80 range next year, which is where Butler likely starts the season. So, if they're trying to match up based on team caliber, it'd make sense that Butler play Illinois, Minnesota, or Rutgers. Illinois has been in the Gavitt Games the last two seasons, and three out of the four overall, so they may be out this year. Rutgers has been in it three out of the four years as well (and because there are 13 teams instead of 5, they aren't guaranteed as many entries as BE teams) so they may be out too.

So, Minnesota does seem fairly likely. Maryland and Iowa are each projected to be just inside the top 30, though. While it likely won't be Maryland since we played them in 2017, it wouldn't shock me at all if we got Iowa.

Honestly, with the way the schedule has turned out, I'd love for us to host Nebraska as a sort of return game for the NIT this year. They should be a bottom 2 or 3 big ten team and we're going to need to stack some wins somehow.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Tyler Cook leaves Iowa since it’s possible/likely he’s a second round pick this year, and if he does then they would fall to just about exactly where I would expect us to be.

If they do drop to the 50-60 range, and it's at Hinkle, it's really the perfect sort of winnable game that still gets you a quality win. This schedule really doesn't need a road top 50 game added to it. Iowa hasn't hosted a Gavitt since 2015, so I'm concerned we may get sent to IA.

That’s gotta be one of the toughest schedules in the country. **** we better schedule Lawrence North and Pike so we can get some wins.
Hopefully they figure it out for next year and we can compete. A tough schedule provides opportunities to win big games but you have to win a few.

Of the power conference teams Butler's scheduled to play, are any expected to be better/worse than this year? I know Ole Miss should be better. Florida had a bunch of transfers so they're probably the biggest question mark: high ceiling / low floor. I don't know much about Baylor or any of the others for next year.

IU or Fort Wayne? People are apparently getting those two confused.

Due to scheduling conflicts, both games will be played at each high school’s gym with Butler to wear its “underdog black” uniforms from the Ho League days.

    Danville,

Quick - We need early lines, both with and without Smits, for each game.

That will be a rough six games, let alone the other twelve.
