Disagree. Any time you are the big fish in a mid-major conference, any road game will be tough because for the rest of the teams in the conference, you visiting is basically their "title game" for the year. In my time at Butler (07-11) when Butler was clowning the Horizon league, I always sweated out going to Wright St, Cleveland State, the Wisconsin schools, even a Detroit or Valpo because I knew that was their one monster home game for the season, and aside from the 18-0 conference season, we definitely lost some very winnable road conference games.

Even this year, presumptive conference favorites like Vermont, Liberty, Colgate, and Wright State have lost to inferior opponents on the road and that's been their only hiccup to date.

Does anyone know if there is an update from the selection committee regarding the top16 teams? I thought I heard that there was something else in a week and a half. This will be interesting because we are currently 14 (2nd 4 seed) on bracket matrix.

Couldn’t find anything. Thought they started doing it in Mid-Feb. last year.

Cleveland f*cking State. Still bitter after losing the HL championship game lol. Hell, we got trounced at Milwaukee one year in the HL when they were really average and we were ranked. Road games are still road games....not to mention the clowns in the stands in Valpo wearing their sh*t brown school colors.

Like in 2010-2011 when we lost on the road to Younstown State? We had lost 4 of 5 and were standing around asking if Brad had lost the team... CarmelDawg, we were there at the same time... neat.

Still #9 in the NET. If we're the top #3 seed, BU would likely play in St. Louis or Cleveland.

I'll chime in about the Gonzaga/San Diego State convo. SDS currently has 7 Q1/Q2 wins. Gonzaga has 4. Add in that Gonzaga's non-con SoS is just awful (#271 for goodness sake). How many years did we hear about BU not playing anyone during the non-con being a primary reason we didn't make the dance? I would hope SDS gets the benefit of the doubt in the West bracket.

Anyone have a good explanation for SOS differences between KP and the nitty gritty team sheets? The one that really matters is the nitty gritty sheets, which has us as only 57th SOS (vs. 20th in KP). By contrast Dayton's SOS is 89th in KP but 30th in the nitty gritty report.

Yeah, that Youngstown State loss dropped Butler to 6-5 in the HL too. The next game was at Cleveland State. Butler won that game and every game after that until they played UConn for the National Championship.

2002 was the only year that was even a factor. Even that year, Butler beat IU in the non-con, who later wound up in the National Championship game.

Gonzaga beat both Oregon and Arizona in the non-con this year. It's not really their fault that Washington and UNC have both been disappointments. It's not like they didn't play anyone.

Gonzaga's average NET opponent rank is #130. That's the second worst of all current NET Top 50 teams only behind Yale. They are 5-1 in Q1/2 games so far.

By comparison, BU's average NET opponent rank is #39. We have over twice as many Q1/2 wins so far (11-4).

Gonzaga is ranked #3 in the NET. BU is ranked #8. They're beating up a bunch of weaker teams to drive up their ranking.

Zags have no reason to leave their conference. Recruit well, play a tough non-con, and cruise to the tourney.

I'm at least glad to see the NET is capturing what a good team they are. Overall, they're playing a weaker schedule, sure. But at least St. Mary's and BYU are prospective tourney teams in that conference. It's not like there's nobody on the schedule.

Santa Clara too. I watched damn near that whole game late night and it was fantastic action. SC is pretty good. They were just up against a juggernaut. Gonzaga is very, very good. I don't care who they are playing, they are a strong team and will get a number 1 seed.

The Zags beat the same SC team by 50 just a couple weeks ago, so I'd say pride was at stake a little last night

Yeah and even USF is pretty good. Their Sagarin rating is in the top 100, not far below what DePaul and St. John's are.

I know it's the west bracket and I know many of y'all aren't that into Palm, but look how this would lay out? Plus first round games in STL...And SDSU as the #1 if we got there. It's about as best as a draw could unfold. Who's in there that scares you? Auburn or MSU...maybe? I'd take this in a nano second.
