Just thought this would be a good time to start this thread. If one already exists, I couldn't find it. Feel free to merge the threads. Here's the schedule for all NCAAT games. https://theathletic.com/2394328/202...rackets-projection-bracketology-bracket-watch Great read in The Athletic yesterday. It's interesting how there are just as many unanswered questions for the committee as there are for fans.
https://theathletic.com/2417582/2021/03/01/ncaa-tournament-2021-bubble-indianapolis/ Another great article in the Athletic. It goes over many of the logistics for the tournament in Indy. Just amazing how much is being done. It also appears they are putting an NCAA floor over Hinkle's floor.
First look at court to be laid over Hinkle Hardwood... Sent from my LM-Q720 using Butler Hoops mobile app
Pretty sure NCAA makes a standard court that’s required of host sites. Sent from my iPad using Butler Hoops mobile app
I know, I was just naively hoping they’d make an exception this year. Has any playing surface ever been placed on top of the original floor before?
Have been thinking a bit about the rounds at Hinkle and have broken teams down: Would be OK with/like seeing on our court: —Nova —Loyola —Michigan —Gonzaga —Virginia Would sting a bit, but ultimately ok: —Creighton —Seton Hall —Purdue Don’t want to see: (lots in this group but picked just one for mention) —UConn Would root against, yet weirdly conflicted: —OSU (obvious why) —Duke (same, but it would bring an avalanche of good PR for BU) Would become physically ill: —IU Stop watching college basketball forever: —X (especially with a win)
I would love for Creighton to end up at Hinkle, just to piss off their fans. But I guess it would give them a built-in excuse if they get bounced early again. (Guys, they haven't made a Sweet 16 since 1974.) But I agree, IU and Xavier would make me physically ill as well. I wouldn't be a fan of Ohio State either.
I'd think the mechanical engineering would be interesting, specifically raising the goals themselves with an additional layer of flooring. Each goal has 3 support cables and an extension of the goal post itself would be required, unless the entire basket is to be removed and replaced with a temporary backboard.
Yeah, they better not mess anything up. I'd like to think they've already thought of all possible issues, but who knows with how quickly this came together.
They will remove the baskets. The floors and basket supports are the same at each site. Sent from my SM-G975U using Butler Hoops mobile app
I’m sure Butler has gotten plenty of reassurances about preserving the court. As to the goals, they will bring in temporaries. Butler removes the goals for graduation, so not a major production.
Overlaying the floor should be a fairly simple task, although labor intensive. All in all this is long overdue to celebrate the grand old fieldhouse. 81 years have passed since BU last hosted an NCAA basketball game. It should provide a wonderful showcase for BU.
Do you know if there’s any thought to keeping thr temporary/more modern basket stanchions? I know the old ones preserve some of the vintage feel, but new ones provide more revenue generating opportunities with capabilities of led screens and more surface area for ads. Is it any more labor intensive than it would be anywhere else? I wouldn’t expect there are any sort of complications with placing a court on top of another court versus on the floor. What I think will be interesting is that our court is longer and wider than most (out of bounds area). I wonder if they adjusted the temporary floors for that. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
