Doesn’t he have a top 5 recruiting class coming in? If he can make some noise with that roster over a few years then puts him in a potentially good spot for his actual dream job in his home state.
I think Pitino to St. John's is a done deal. Even if it's not, he's probably a bit long in the tooth for OSU. They'd be smart to pry Dennis Gates, the former Cleveland State coach, away from Missouri, though Dan Hurley and OSU seem perfect for each other. I expect that's the direction they would head: poaching from a P6 team that can't offer comparable resources.
Slick Rick is 70.. I don’t know how much longer he realistically wants to coach + the stresses that come with it. I’m fine with Hurley going to OSU. He’s an ass. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
I agree with your comments on Hurley. Does he seem like the type who could live in the shadow of Ryan Day, football rules at OSU?
Rick lives in New Rochelle NY a 40 minute commute to Queens, he’s a member at Winged Foot and can recruit NY Tri-State area in his sleep. St John’s becomes a Top 5 Big East team year 1. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
How does the NY “entertainment” compare to Louisville? I assume he will have the advantage there too when showing the recruits a good time. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
Good point he will do just fine It’s kind of crazy how well pitino fits coaching St. John’s Sadly for butler I think it’s going to work out great for them Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
Yeah especially when there is a VERY DIRECT financial incentive lol. Oats is cut from the same cloth as those in the sec; his priorities probably don’t align with mine but he’s also probably not a criminal. Chris Beard is cut from the same cloth as many in jail. “I’m gonna keep my mouth shut about someone else doing bad things because speaking up is against my financial interests” versus “I’m gonna do bad things myself, against my financial interests, because I like doing bad things.”
I guess that answers it. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-b...ino-happy-iona-says-wants-coach-10-more-years Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
When the only reason you may not get a significant promotion is a question on your longevity, it makes a lot of sense to mention to a reporter that you feel amazing and want to coach for a long time… He’s dying for the St John’s job. I’d be so surprised if he’s not in queens next year.
