I know someone who played a non revenue sport at Illinois - a very good school! - who never wrote a paper he didn’t want to write. Neither did his teammates. The aids would take care of those. It was literally their job. If that’s the standard of expectations for guys at good schools who don’t matter at all in the grand scheme of college athletics, imagine what it’s like for basketball and football players at lesser schools. Is it hard in the grand scheme of academia to do the work required to just stay eligible at butler? Hell no. Not even close to difficult. And guys should be ashamed if they can’t meet that standard. But you actually have to be a student. Some transfers into butler in recent years haven’t liked that. We need guys who aren’t so soft they’re bothered by a few hours of school work…
Depth isn’t the issue as much as known quality talent. We replaced Bates with Screen which is a significant step down. Kapke should be redshirt . Turnbull can play either 4 or 5 and has tremendous upside . Will see if Matta can develop him or leave him sit. Thomas is serviceable but not a difference maker and will struggle against the top BE teams. Defense outside of Alexander is a big question mark. Perimeter scoring may be better but remains to be seen. Hopefully rebounding will be better but who knows.
Karen, I'm not acting like anything. I don't frequent these forums anymore, but I had some info on a player Butler is interested in and wanted to share. This is a situation I have a lot of knowledge of and it's complicated. To some watching from afar, it may not make sense. That's all I was sharing. I don't care what surprises you, personally.
I specified private schools bc I have intimate knowledge of the standards for athletes at other p5 private schools from taking courses with them and knowing professors. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
Lukas, is there any chance Isaac Mushila is coming to Butler? I see he is going to commit tomorrow. I know I am hoping for a lot here but I guess I was hoping for one of those “quiet” recruiting surprises?
My preference would be to fill the spot, even if it's with a grad transfer for a season. Don't see a real reason for playing a man down. Can understand not wanting to tie up the scholarship for multiple seasons just to fill a spot though for a 'meh' player.
A fair amount of my Twitter activity is unrelated to Butler lol. Riley (the guy who reported Mushila is committing today) is my friend. He is a writer at Heat Check CBB with me. I'm just supporting my guy dropping some knowledge!
Hmmm. Relationship here with Coach Mojo. Pretty satisfied with roster as is but this might be worth pursuing. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
Everybody better empty their savings... This would be one hell of a pull... https://247sports.com/LongFormArtic...ons-for-Richmond-star-Tyler-Burton-210744115/ Sent from my SM-G986U using Butler Hoops mobile app
HOSSCAST69 update: thick overcast, with a 0% chance of sunshine. Classic case of a guy who hits the portal with a predetermined location (and it's not us)
My thoughts precisely. The three remaining years is intriguing if he’s got upside but not sure I see it. Also, would signal that McKenna is not reclassifying and coming here. Of course, he was always a long shot after Cooley hit Georgetown. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
