As most know, the 2010-11 team was 6-5 at the beginning of February, then proceeded to run off 14 straight wins.

    Can history repeat itself?

I do know this; last night showed the guys what they have to do to win. Punch hard, punch early, and keep on punching.

What impressed me most was they didn’t fold after being down 14-6 early. At that point KB stole the ball and fed it to McD for a fast break dunk. Game on

I love Butler and I'm rooting for these guys, but that team had an NBA player and the best 4 year player in Butler history, lead by an NBA coach so I'm not holding my breath for even 4 in a row.

When they were 6-5 would you have said Shelvin was going to the NBA after the season? Would you have said Brad would leave for a big time NBA head coach job when they were 6-5 in 2011?

If not, then your post is irrelevant to what OP is saying.

I agree 100 percent. Looking back now you can easily say they had all that but at the time no one could imagine Hayward and NBA star and Stevens a top tier coach in NBA

Get your seasons straight. They’re talking about the 2010-2011 season. Not Gordon’s last season in 2009-2010.

Also, Mack was definitely a future NBA player and Brad’s combined record from his previous 3 seasons was 89-15. I think as a fan base we were concerned, but not too worried because 1) Butler was still in the Horizon League and 2) the head coach had a proven track record.

Crap, you’re right. I updated my post. My comment still stands, and despite your hindsight I don’t remember anyone that was predicting Mack to go to the NBA or for Brad to leave for the NBA when we were 6 and 5 in 2011.

    Hayward was already gone, though.

Was Ryan Reynolds already gone? He was one of my all time favorites along with Jamie the "Big Bawanna" Smalligan.

Huh? Ryan graduated in 2004, btw. Man, Denari was still doing radio PBP at that point in time.

I wonder if Butler had lost that first round game against Pittsburgh if Mack would have been drafted that year.

Jesus...I've turned my brain into gumbo yet can remember things y'all are missing. Christ I was about 20 beers and a ball deep in tunica when that game happened down about a grrr at the tables. And I recall it was a second round game as we beat odu in the first round.

Isn't Ryan Reynolds an actor? He's quite handsome to boot.

Howard putback as time expired. They literally were a second away from not making it past Old Dominion. They were supposed to dominate Butler on the boards. What a great game.

Yeah - THAT team was “gritty not pretty”. Vanzant was a player that got so much better over his four years. I had hoped thought that HB was going to progress in the same trajectory.

Those two years were so much fun. Would love to see Matt a part of the program again.

Yeah I think he’s teamed up with George McGinnis.
