The debate in the Nolan Berry thread got me thinking, if you were starting a team based on Butler's best players (Most of which have been from 2000 on), who would be your starting five? Your bench?

    My starting five:
    1. Mike Green
    2. Shelvin Mack
    3. Brandon Polk (I'd put him here even though this wasn't necessarily his position)
    4. Gordon Hayward
    5. Matt Howard

    My bench:
    1. Brandon Miller
    2. Darnell Archey
    3. Willie Veasley
    4. Drew Streicher
    5. Joel Cornette

    Specialists:
    1. Pete Campbell
    2. Shawn Vanzant
    3. Ronald Nored

Guys from this year's team I could certainly see on this team eventually: Dunham, Jones, Clarke

Yeah, Graves has to be in there. Move Archey down to specialists, and insert Graves. Also, to fix your Polk problem, just switch him and Hayward and there you go.

Uh...No Rylan Hainje? Give me him over Streicher, Archey, Campbell, etc., any day. No offense to those guys, though.

Brandon Crone was tough as nails. He makes my team.

I didn't put Graves in there because for his last two seasons he shot 37.5% from the field, and the reason he scored so many points is because he took so many shots from the field. Hainje's not a bad idea, I might put him in place of Campbell. My list isn't necessarily the 13 all time best players ever, it's just if I were going to build a team, these are the guys I'd want. I'd want Streicher strictly because he could guard anyone from the 2-5 positions on the court.

I'd move Cornette into the starting 5, move Matt to the 4 where he was most comfortable...

Move Polk to the bench, Hayward at 3.

Glad you said it did not include your all time best players. I would include Jeff Blue, Bobby Plump, Billy Shepard and Ed Shilling in an all time favorite list.

Sorry, ol' man, your showing your age bias.

Yea I am an old man. Sorry I continue to seek interesting dialogue on Butler. If I need stupid conversation I will tune into Obama on the View. By the way how immature are you?

Come on BU1970, we've talked privately and we were classmates and remember each other from the distant past, ( or do you forget?) so, yea, I'm quite mature as my wrinkles and aches attest to every day.
And what about Spokes, my bro and friend? You mentioned Big Ed, one of your brothers, why not one of mine? Actually, Bobby Plump was one of mine as well.

So now you want two from your house and won't even give me one. Who can help us out here?

Spud was a good man and quite a shot but I would still put Spokes ahead of him, kid.
