If I'm reading this right, a Creighton win means we're playing Wednesday. I'm suddenly a big DePaul fan. I would think to have any chance of making a run at MSG, you can't play on Wednesday. The extra game would be too taxing.

And Saturday is a Quad 1 game right now. Could help us punch a ticket.... to the NIT.

One advantage for us is being able to go ten deep.

So if GT and SHU both lose Saturday and DePaul beats Creighton. X and St. John's are playing for 3rd place. Winner is 9-9. Loser is in a 6 way tie for 4th at 8-10. What's the 6 way tie breaker?

I'm going to wait until the result of our game to put any thought into these scenarios. I do guarantee if we lose, DePaul will beat Creighton.

I think Butler has the benefit of playing loose for a noon game and not having to scoreboard watch.

    Glad you asked :D

    If it's GU-XU-SHU-CU-BU-DU:
First is head-to-head against the group
    BU 6-4 (wins 4th), GU 4-6 (drops to 9th), everyone else 5-5
Then it becomes a 4-way tie between XU-SHU-CU-DU
DU is 4-2 against that group (5th), CU is 2-4 (8th), other 2 are 3-3
Then it becomes a 2-way tie between XU & SHU, who split head-to-head
Next is record against #1, which is VU in this case. XU (6th) went 1-1 vs. VU, SHU in this scenario went 0-2 (7th).

    If it's GU-SJU-SHU-CU-BU-DU:
BU & DU are 6-4 against that group, SJU & SHU are 5-5, GU & CU are 4-6
So it becomes 3 two-way ties to break
    BU (4th) swept DU (5th) head-to-head
SJU & SHU split head-to-head; SJU (6th) went 1-1 vs. VU where SHU in this scenario went 0-2 (7th)
    CU (8th) swept GU (9th) head-to-head

I'm a little confused. On another thread in this site, it was suggested that, if Butler beats Providence and DePaul beats Creighton on Saturday, Butler gets the 4 seed. Here, it says that, in addition to those games going right, Seton Hall and Georgetown also must lose. Can you confirm that all four games must go Butler's way for Butler to finish with the 4? Thanks.

    Thanks for breaking it down.

So, you're saying a win on Saturday is a good idea!!!

Correct. SHU and GT already have 8 wins. If they both win Saturday, they are at 9. Butler can't get to 9. So they would both finish ahead of Dawgs

All of these scenarios are fun to look at but I’ll be happy with any of them as long as they include a Butler win on Saturday.

Yeah I would be thrilled and very much encouraged simply by an intensity/effort match of what we witnessed Tuesday. I can't believe it's come to it in my mind, but I'm just begging for back to back great efforts...string a couple powerful performances together, vs this ride of crap we've dealt with. Finishing strong is all I care about. The rest will take care of itself.

If Dawgs play with the same intensity as we saw against X...the sky's the limit.

It does in 240 characters what we can't figure out in 40 posts.

The clouds must be very low then...:p

Seriously though they played with toughness and moxie which I haven't seen all year Tuesday night. I just want that. I'll hate them, but accept losses if the boys go out and play with a strong edge.

Let's not go crazy. We beat a team, at home, that, at one point, lost 6 conference games in a row. Intensity is fine, but if we keep shooting 41% from the field, as we did against X, we won't be stringing together a lot of victories. The crowd also helped significantly Tuesday night. The rest of the games are in Providence and NYC.

Many aspects of Tuesday's game were, no doubt, encouraging, but saying "the sky's the limit" is overdoing it. This team most definitely has limits.

Yeah, this team has looked good at times at home when their shots have been falling.

It's what happens when they aren't on neutral or hostile environments when they've looked terrible. Team starts falling behind and shows no resiliency or fight to be able to overcome it.
