Strus could have really helped Butler, he did visit but was not offered. Too bad
Bruh, The Big East had EVERY team in the post season. No other conference could say that. Brag about it to all your buddies at the bar. It's gonna be an even better brag right now once the Blue Demons hang a banner after winning the CBI!
If you win the CBI, do you get your buy-in money back?
Probably scared David Caraher would steal his minutes next year.
I heard from a reliable source that Caraher was planning on transferring to Butler after news of Brunk’s transfer. Said he wanted to finish the process that he started three years ago.

For all the concern about Butler next year, St. John's barely (and most years wouldn't have) got an at-large with Ponds...with him (their leading scorer) and Clark (2nd leading rebounder/double digit scorer) gone, they could definitely be bottom-feeding next year. They still have Heron and Figueroa but Ponds was probably the 2nd best player in the conference and they barely got in with him. Also, Mullen is probably the worst coach in the conference, so that's always going to hamstring the team.
Also, DePaul had a banner year (for them) and still only made it to the CBI. They lose Strus, Cain, and Olujobi. Paul Reed is legit, but they should return to the cellar as well.
That's the spirit! Like the Jeffersons, we are movin' on up!
DePaul has assembled an interesting group of newcomers including Romeo Weems of New Haven Michigan.
The three four stars coming in next year should keep them adequate going forward. That is program pointed in the right direction.
If that's the hill you want to die on. They do have a good recruiting class coming in. But they finished last this year and must replace 3 of their best players, so I can't see them improving next year. And history says DePaul is going to be DePaul. According to 247 rankings, Butler and DePaul have recruited at roughly the same level as each other each season since joining the Big East (which is not great) and with very different on-the-court results.
And in that time:
Butler has conference finishes of: 9th, 2nd(tie), 4th(tie), 2nd, 6th, 8th(tie)
DePaul has conference finishes of: 10th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 10th, 8th(tie)
Butler will be better than DePaul next season, book it!
I have little doubt that they will be at or near the bottom simply because of the brand currently.
Heard Weems can be a hot head and difficult and that comes from someone who has watched a number of his games.
Sounds like Hoiberg to Nebraska is essentially a done deal. Also sounds like he might bring St. John's assistant, Matt Abdelmassih with him.
According to Adam Zagoria, “Matt is the glue that keeps the program together,” one source close to the program said. “If he leaves, it will set the program back five years.”
Still happy to not see him in a Seton Hall jersey.
Good for Angel. Great kid and talent. What a motor.
