Robinson-Earl's nose is still a little crooked from when he broke it banging into JaKobe. Sent from my SM-G977U using Butler Hoops mobile app
I'd be satisfied if they cancelled the last two weeks on everyone's schedules to let DePaul & Nova catch up on postponed games. 16 conference games played seems reasonable this year. There will likely be another school that goes on pause in February (just based on the current environment, not wishing that on any program).
They really called a foul with 0.9 to go so Nova could win? Sent from my LM-Q720 using Butler Hoops mobile app
Yeah that was BS. 50/50 ball off a rebound— That game was stolen. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
Providence just beat Creighton, 74-70, at Creighton. Zegarowski was back and scored 14. Watson with 29 for Providence. Friars move to 4-4 and pass the Dawgs in the standings. Marquette and Providence now tied for 6th with 4-4 records; Butler 8th at 4-5. Almost halfway through the conference schedule (at least for some teams), only 2 games separate 2nd and 8th. Jefferson with 26 for Creighton. Other than Zegarowski (3 for 7), Creighton shot 1 for 16 on threes.
Zeg had 12 at halftime. So really shut down by Providence in 2nd. Sent from my LM-Q720 using Butler Hoops mobile app
X has played only 5 conference games. It hasn't played since January 10 and isn't scheduled to play again until January 29 vs. Butler. That game likely will be postponed as well. Its next scheduled game is February 3 against DePaul. That would mean that, as of February 2, it would have played only 5 conference games. There is no way that it will play a full 20-game conference schedule. It might be interesting to guess how many teams actually will complete a full conference slate. I'd put the number at under 5 and wouldn't be surprised if the actual answer is zero.
Hurley just got T’d up. Went after refs. His assistants tried to get between and he said to one of them “get the f*ck away from me”. Real class act. Sent from my iPad using Butler Hoops mobile app
Has the Big East released how conference finish will work in the very likely event some/many/all teams don't play a full conference schedule?
Providence at Villanova delayed this afternoon because of (wait for it) sun glare. This is the perfect bookend for Nova to the Bucket Game. https://www.espn.com/watch/player/_/id/30765804
DePaul just beat Marquette, so both Providence and Marquette lost today, putting Butler in a 3-way tie for 6th at 4-5. If they could get a win at UConn, they'd be .500 in the conference and in a tie with UConn for 5th at the halfway point (or later, since some or all teams won't complete 20 conference games). I'd have taken that in a heartbeat at the beginning of the season even without knowing about Butler's COVID pauses and all of the injuries Butler would have.
