Georgetown's blanket culture for the history of the program is basically if a "John Thompson" isn't coaching, they SUCK. Literally, if you look at the history of the program, the two good stretches they have had were when JT Jr and JT III were the HCs.

Well, Big John Thompson demanded Ewing be the coach and the Board adhered. Sooo

Idk anything about the Georgetown Athletic Dept, AD, and if anything has changed since Ewing was hired? I highly doubt Big John will have any much say (if any) when the next HC is hired after the Ewing debacle...

If anyone knows anything about it the situation, I would be interested? I agree that they should fire Ewing early so they can get ahead of the coaching carousel and zero in on a candidate.

I prefer they stay like they are - the league is already way full of hard-to-beat teams...

Trust me, Big John will stay silent on the matter. Like, really, really, really quiet.

I'm happy for us that Manny chose Butler. I'm happy for Manny that he did not choose Georgetown.

And it was free to all DC residents. That’s rough.

Maybe they should play at McDonough Gymnasium/Arena (capacity: 2,200) on campus and save the Capital One Arena rent. It was used in 2014 for an NIT game between Georgetown and West Virginia and, I believe, may have been used for a no-crowd game or two during the 2020-21 COVID season.

Reported attendance at Georgetown games (actual likely much less):

    Nov. 8 Coppin State-7,125
    Nov. 12 Green Bay-4,583
    Nov. 15 Northwestern-5,518
    Nov. 23 American-3,267
    Nov. 26 UMBC-4,134
    Dec. 3 South Carolina-5,391

Coppin State was the high water mark.

Assuming we win against Cal (I know it’s a terrible game because it will be tougher than their record suggests), what do you think it will take to get in the dance in the BE? Traditionally, .500 in conference was a good barometer but with the BE being a little down, I think we have to get to at least 11-9 (and possibly 12-8. Thoughts?

Good wins in conference (and avoiding losing to Georgetown) will help. Any wins over UConn, Creighton, Marquette or X will be helpful, a couple of those very helpful. There could be a couple of others by later in the season. Providence usually works out being a really good win.

Butler has to play better away from Hinkle to get a bid, imo. They haven't looked particularly good in any game away from home, so far. The selection committee looks closely at road/neutral wins.

When the Pep Band makes up 3/4 of the Georgetown fans........and over half of the people there look like they are Siena fans..... oof is right!
