Title's wrong on this one. McIntosh has played superbly during the Spring AAU and has jumped into the HM conversation. The ISU decommit has been rumored for awhile. If McIntosh kills it at the Indy Event against that loaded comp in his pool he will get numerous HM offers. He's a much better athlete than people give him credit for and his J is probably one of the best in the 14 class. Some HM will want an outside shooter like that.

I do agree with the Bennett/McIntosh background and how that could be a problem. But last i checked the elder Bennett did not coach Butler and I doubt if the younger Bennett was involved with that. For all we know young Bennett may be still be friends with McIntosh.

I'm not really sure what else there is to say. This just seems to keep coming up in various ways. Below are the teams with 2014 guys committed already. At some point, BU not only has to recruit players 'like' that but better if they hope to make up ground.

This isn't even about McIntosh who BU wont recruit for obvious reasons, but just to note whats going on around us.

Talked to Coach Keeton briefly before the game tonite and he confirmed HM interest for McIntosh. Saw Greg Lansing watching EG, Matthew Graves too, but Mike Lewis who was up at North Central tonite was not present as far as I could see for Eg-Keeton's game. I saw Lewis at the 5 PM Spiece game(Smits/Walton/kessinger) and then later at the 845 EG-Green game that featured Eron Gordon. With Lewis at that 845 game, that to me was interesting...if indeed Justin Gray and Florida Select are in this tournament as they were playing up at Noblesville at the same time. Might indicate we are not recruiting Justin Gray any longer....

What are you talking about? Are they spelling "Butler" differently these days?

Butler is not going to recruit this player.

If Butler had 7 or 8 open scholarships OR just more high major players occupying the current spots, a specialist (obviously not this one) very well could be targeted. Everyone needs shooters. Butler just needs about 4 starters, an entire center rotation, someone to handle the ball, and someone to sell cotton candy first.

The role of a high major shooting specialist to come off the bench is one of the few spots BU has adequately filled, in Kellen Dunham, for a team that'd hope to compete in this league.

I don't think any of those other needs will be filled with someone who had a 'fight' with a dad of someone on the team either.

He's simply stating that McIntosh will most likely be playing at a high major level, which you said he wouldn't.

    Nothing about Butler.

Would it really mattered if there was an altercation that occured in high school? If the kid is good enough and Butler has an in, it would probably be worth investigating. Especially if the two players that the conflict was between were of pretty different skill levels.

I've said for a while that he would be a star at the Indiana State level. He probably won't be a star at Butler's level, but that doesn't mean he can't play in the Big East. He is a lot more than just a shooter. He probably has one of the better mid range games in the country. I like him as backup plan for Bluiett/Macura/Mitchell (and its about time to start offering the next options).

Even if the reason Butler wouldn't pursue didn't exist, it still doesn't mean that you have to adjust your standards to non-impact players at this level. Just do what other high major programs that had issues 'recruiting' talent have done, just get it through transfers in the spring. Maybe that's the reality, who knows.

Open scholarships with the potential of filling them with legitimate Big East players is better than more occupied scholarships by below/fringe Big East players.

I don't believe he is a fringe Big East player. I also don't think that bad blood between two parents (with one of them being a walk on at that) has even the slightest impact here.

Xavier has a drastically better roster. They might even be in a position where exhausting a position on such a limited player (in Big East terms) isn't even an issue (everyone could use a bench shooter). Butler needs to recruit Big East STARTERS, they simply don't have them right now. Lets worry about role players when we've gotten some of our ducks in a row. Every single player Butler recruits as a member of the Big East this year and next SHOULD BE EXPECTED to move ahead of the mid major recruits from the past. Look at GU's class, that's along the lines of what it'll take (to catch up)

I don't know where you got lost. I just said that BU wouldn't be recruiting this player when you asked to have it moved into the recruiting section (and fuk, of course, that is what was implied). BU isn't going to recruit him, who cares?

Yeah Lewis wasn't watching any EG-Keeton games the first two days. I watched a little bit of each of their first 2 games and no Lewis around. We aren't recruiting anyone off EG-Keeton IMO. But alot of their players will get d1 interest and some high d1. McIntosh, Mercer, Logwood....it will be interesting to see how EG-Keeton does as this tourney advances. They are a VERY well coached team. IMO one of the best.

McIntosh was offered by Mizzou today.

I don't care if a walk-on's dad doesn't like McIntosh or not. I think it's time to consider him.

Coach Bennett doesn't even have a problem with McIntosh. He actually speaks highly of him. He just didn't get along with McIntosh's dad. I don't think their relationship is important at all.

Edit: And just to be clear, there was friction between the two fathers while Bryant was playing at New Castle. I don't even know if there are any lingering feelings at this point. Probably is based on everything that happened, but I don't have knowledge of their current relationship.

Remember coaches can't contact recruits during events. He reopened his recruitment less than 48 hours before the event. So no surprise they haven't contacted him.

They will do it through someone else, usually the AAU coach.

He dropped 26 vs Dream Vision(Stephen Zimmerman). In the Quarters last night EG-Keeton lost by 2 to Kevon Looney and Milw Rebels. It was perhaps the best game I saw all week. Sam Logwood really helped himself as he went toe to toe with Looney. McIntosh had a difficult assignment at times as the 5'7 Damontrae Jefferson is one tough cover. EG trailed for a majority of the game but battled back and actually took a one point lead very late on a Mack Mercer bucket. Kevon Looney made a spectacular And 1 late. Thought Zach McRoberts really played well in this tourney. Sellers too. Both of those guys IMO helped their D1 stock.

How did Mercer do against Looney? It has been alluded (Mercer himself I think) that he would be all over a Butler offer.

Logwood was on Looney for practically the whole game. Mercer helped out near the rim. Mack got alot of fouls. Looney is an NBA player. Mercer made some big buckets that helped EG eventually take the lead. Mack IMO has to get more explosion in his game. He doesn't get off the floor fast enough. None of the EG players hurt themselves in this game as the Rebels will probably win this tourney. In fact they probably helped their stock in the eyes of the D1 coaches. I really like David Burrell for Milw Rebels too. He plays with Looney in HS in Milw. He's a 6'6 2014. Really smart player.
