Woods mentioned it in his article with the St John’s OT loss preventing a four game winning streak, but think about this. The team is literally three possessions away from being 9-4 in conference instead of 6-7 (X, SH, SJU - all on the road). Those would all be at least Q2 wins, or better.

Throw in the IU game to that mix and you have four possessions dictating four losses. That puts them at 19-7 and probably looking at a six seed or better in the tournament.

This, in one form or fashion, is the message LaVall should be drilling into the team’s head - to value every possession and to stop playing not to lose (which they are not good at).

Going to the game on Wednesday. Hope they figure out a way to play with them. Ball movement like last night would be a start.

18-8 team assist to turnover ratio was the difference between this game and the SJ game. Ball movement was outstanding as was rebounding. Defense was woeful at times though. Having AT on Strus was odd unless LJ was willing to give Strus two whenever he wanted instead of looks at threes.

    Question for discussion:

Would Max Strus or Eli Cain start for this year's Butler team? If so, who would they take the starting spot from? If not, why?

Absolutely on Strus, probably not on Cain.

Could go back and forth on whether he’d replace Tucker or McDermott. Gun to my head, I’d say McDermott.

Cain plays the 2, right? So that would either mean making KB the 1 (no thanks), not starting KB, or sliding Cain to the 3 and deciding again whether to replace Tucker or McDermott.

I believe Eli Cain has been a 4 year starter at DePaul.

I was very concerned about last night’s game. Obviously DePaul is much improved, has some nice pieces, & has played well on the road in BE play. Going into last night they were 3-3 in BE road games & had not lost by > 10 points so well done Dawgs. The difference maker was that quick 11-0 spurt midway through the 2nd half that stretched it from 57-56 to 68-56.

Actually Rose Jones had a triple double against St Johns on Feb 6 2016. 10 pts, 14 rebounds and 10 assists.

Say we win out at home, I think winning one of the two vs nova or Marquette would get us in. What are some scenarios out there that would get us a bid or maybe keep us out? Winning how many tourney games? I wanna hear some feedback

Paul Reed is exactly the player this Butler team needs. If you add him to this team and do nothing else, this is a top 25 team with a high ceiling.

Dawgs win out at home beat providence on the road and 1 BE tournament win and I think they are in. Marquette or Villanova would be huge though.

Hopefully that's Hastings next yr. Reed is really solid. Haven't had a player like him in forever I think

So if I’m getting this right... DePaul has 4 guys who would start for Butler, and yet Butler is 2-0 vs. DePaul and has a better record.

Things that make you go hmmm
