Fair enough, maybe I'll change it to seeing a better intense more focused product out there? No jab taken, I'll admit it I'm searching for any kind of light at the end of the tunnel for the inconsistencies of this team. And the last 4 games have been a better product and it has started with Fowler and PJ, the seniors, maybe that's better, eh?
Ok. I’m going to say this and retire from this site because it’s making me act like something I despise...an I.U. fan! Although I still stand by all my comments it dawned on me while @ the game Saturday, watching the tribute to Matt White, the video prior to about our programs history, our coach putting his arm around and hugging Matt Whites wife, then listening to the post game live interview realizing it’s obvious the coaches and players either read this or hear about what we’re all saying. I realized despite our frustrations this year what a special place and program this REALLY is. I knew it but had kinda got caught up in all this. Social media can be lethal. It seems to bring out the negative far more than the positive. There’s both this year but watching the video, your head coach sincerely hugging a grieving wife, all the things that happen during a game you just can’t find that elsewhere. The sound of Hinkle Fieldhouse when shots are falling. In today’s somewhat negative society it’s just a SPECIAL place and so is our program. So, I realized as I was driving home “oh my God I’ve been acting like an I.U. fan!” I don’t prefer rehab so I’ve decided to change my ways! I hope you all do the same. Go Dawgs! Brunk's development has continued and probably exceeded my expectations, but Nate's play has been much improved in recent times and instrumental with change of fortunes concerning the team. I have no issues splitting time between those 2, regardless of who starts.
Yep, that’s what I was told. Sounded like Strus was really interested in playing here. I always wondered if he had a little extra motivation going up against Butler even though Holtmann & staff moved on. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
Just got back to Michigan after the weekend visiting the kid. It was great to catch the game at Hinkle. Always a great atmosphere and it was a bonus to enjoy my first Upland Brewing Dragonfly IPA. That’s one tasty beer. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
Every single objective measurement respectfully disagrees with you. How do you reconcile that? Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
Ted, Retire from the board if you must, but know that not everyone on here supports the negativity and the attacks on players/coaches/etc. Healthy, civil debate is ok, attacks aren't. Feel free to stick around...even if it's just to read. Your posts are usually insightful and more of what the board needs.
To reconcile “objective” measurements you yourself must be objective. If we were all objective it would be a pretty boring forum. Sent from my iPad using Butler Hoops mobile app
That’s not true at all. Objective measurements aren’t necessarily accurate measurements. I’m asking him what he thinks is being missed by objective measurements. It would be a purely subjective response. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
Strus is a really hard-nosed player with a non-stop motor. He's plays tough, but clean. His game attitude reminds me of Matt Howard. He woulda been so Butler Basketball.
Yeah--he would've been IDEAL! In addition to the prior staff "moving on," I believe that it was reported during his "recruitment" that Strus' mom is a DePaul grad & was a noteworthy athlete there. Maybe this scared off Holtmann & company. Which, if true, I question. Syracuse was supposed to have had the inside track on Khaliff Battle. His older brother attends the school. SU is closer to New Jersey than BU. But we continued to recruit Khaliff, won that battle (no pun) & seem to have ended up with a quality player.
I thought I remembered hearing he wanted a smaller school atmosphere. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
You mean smaller than Butler? That would be a tough one. I'm not saying it's for everyone, but if you rule out BU, I think I wouldn't give the excuse of I want a smaller school atmosphere. Edit: Never mind. Pretty sure you're talking about Battle, not Strus.
