You don't really think the spread will only be 8.5 in this game do you? Easiest money ever made if so. Nova may win by 30. Our team is toast and the lack of urgency is simple to see. They've quit believing. We should too. Nova wins by 22-25 easily.

Wonder why you haven’t opened up your own sportsbook in Vegas!

This game could be brutal, I wonder about the psyche of the team going on the road to play Villanova. This offseason will determine Butler Basketball and its future.

Agreed. This off-season could show some light if there is a way to grab a lead guard in the grad transfer market. I have to expect there will be a scholarship that comes available and hopefully it does soon enough to make a solid run at someone.

If not, 2020 better be one Hell of a class or things could slide out of control quickly.

I don't think a Butler team EVER quits. Bulldogs out hot early, 'Nova rallies late. Last possession wins.

While I like wax's thinking, we should know early on if this team has mailed in the season.

I didn't say the kids quit. Said they quit believing and really have zero to play for. Nova playing for seeding. Butler comes out anything like the other night and it is a 20 point hole within ten minutes.

This is not without precedent. It took Villanova 5:08 to build a 19-0 lead on a neutral court against a much better Butler team last year.

Anyway, I think Stax is about right for this one. I expect a repeat of last week's game in Milwaukee - Butler holds on early, but Nova eyes that 10+ point victory helping seeding and goes and gets it. Hope the Dawgs come out and play hard. Gonna be tough.

Expect to see the Boyz play with heart, but once again not quite get over the hump. Unfortunately that has been the norm this year, since we can't get more than one or two guys going during most games. Only way we win is if everyone goes off and tired Pasq and Booth have another subpar game. Even with the sub par games from them they beat Marq the last game due to step ups from the rest. Not holding my breath, but they play the games for a reason, so we have a chance, just by showing up and playing hard. 20% is about all I give us, but maybe now the nothing to win or lose free play will get the W. (I think a good portion of the close losses is mental pressure self imposed by a few of the players at crucial times.)

I remember that game well. I was in Vegas and it was the one and only time I ever bet against Butler, who I think were about 7 point dogs vs Villanova. It was by far my biggest bet of the weekend. In hindsight, I guess I didn't really remember the 2nd half that well as we were really buzzing pretty hard by then. I seem to remember Butler played them even or better in the 2nd half and only lost by 18 or so (don't hold me to it). But the cover was never really in doubt after the 1st TV TO lol. Anyway, just a stupid story.

Couple things to watch is if Paschall and Booth play like they have the past month. Both may be worn out.

That one yr we beat them at Nova two yrs ago was pretty sweet. That would be a nice repeat tomorrow. Probably won't happen.

I've been pretty much swamped today but here are my three updates heading into the weekend.

    1. Butler Basketball: Keys to success in road battle with Villanova (this is my preview for this game as always)

    2. Bracketology Update (Butler is in my First Four Out (specifically third) - but there are very few teams fighting for bids right now so that doesn't say much. This game will put Butler either right back in the thick of the bubble - possibly in the field - or basically completely out barring a massive run with back-to-back wins and then a BET final trip.)

    3. Bubble Watch (This piece analyzes all of those teams in consideration for an at-large bid at the moment. Let's just the Big East page is extensive lol.)
