With Nobody Looking, Butler Football Pulled Off One of the Biggest Upsets of the Century A football program that doesn't give out athletic scholarships beating a team that played for an FCS title two years ago? The fact that the underdog in question happens to be Butler only makes Week 1's most improbable result slightly more believable. https://www.si.com/college/2018/09/06/butler-youngstown-state-upset-fcs-pioneer-league
What has happened to our football ? Apparently we aren't a "spring" team.... I can't imagine losing twice in the same season to VALPO !!! Not to mention I have 5 close relatives who are all Crusaders (or whatever their new PC nickname will be....).
Well, Butler football ended Dayton’s streak of scoring in over 500 games in a row with the 31-0 shutout today.
I just watched Butler win at Univ. of San Diego on a 56-yard field goal as time expired. The game was being streamed on the Torreos' WCC system. I didn't know what to expect prior to the game. On one hand, the team's recent history had been putrid. On the other hand, this year has had some really nice moments. For FCS, the game was completely entertaining. Offenses on both teams did quite well. Their defense held BU to field goals early on. Our defense shut them down late in the game. I'm glad that I watched the contest. I'm also glad that Butler remains tied for #1 in the conference with this win. Big ups to coach Uremovich & his staff. A helluva turnaround within a year. USD's coach called this the best BU team that he's seen in his post-game comments. (Yeah, I'm still surprised. But pleased.)
As great as last week was, today was just a sickening finish at lowly Drake! Time to put football away into the back pocket for another year and forget about how we should have actually been playing for a title AND a playoff position next week.
Former Butler football player Russ Mann was named the head football coach at Ben Davis HS today. https://www.indystar.com/story/spor...oach-ihsaa-replace-jason-simmons/69977979007/
