The 1979-80 team's top two scorers were freshmen - Tony Warren (17.6ppg) and Lynn Mitchem (13.1ppg).

Are we still going to be calling this year's freshmen *freshmen*, again, next year?

I think we should make up entirely new terms for them. Like maybe name them after constellations. Seniors can be big dippers. Juniors little dippers, Sophomores are Oriens and Freshmen can be Cassiopeias.

    Love your optimism...but no.

Garcia and Alexander are probably the front runners

I have to think he’s gaining on them.

He probably shouldn’t be starting on this team.

Both. He's not athletic enough, cannot finish and has bad hips. So I heard.

I don't want to stir the pot too much here but I think Chuck is really good and could be a legit star in the Big East. He's already talented and is showing a much better offensive game than anticipated out of HS, plus all reports from the staff is that his work ethic is very high. He sounds like he's primed to be a beast.

Actually, he's the exact kind of recruit that Butler needs for long-term success. A fringe 4-star who is good, but not so good they leave early, and by the time they are a Senior is just a monster. Villanova has perfected this more or less, although they have had a few one-and-dones.

If Butler is made up of Chuck Harris types for the next 3 years, we will be in good shape. Talented, good kids on a roster that gets old and stays old will win a lot of games in March.

Quick lookup, Hayward AVG 4 more minutes per game, and was a 2ndary option from day 1.
Harris didn't have the luxury to play some cupcakes early to boost his confidence/stats. His numbers are coming from BE play.
Based solely on numbers, Harris is the most prolific FR scorer we've had at Butler, taking in usage, per 40 min stats and competition.
    Let's hope he keeps improving.
I also have to plug Tate. Kid is learning in the BE and that is tough. I just love his tenacity, speed and D! I really think he is going to be a ton of fun to watch in the coming seasons.

To be fair, each of those other players referenced were more efficient, some significantly so (Hayward and Howard).

But yeah, Harris is a really good freshman.

Sent from my iPhone, so it’s probably not written all that well

Great points and yes...Tater Tot is gonna get there and be a favorite. It is amazing they barely had practice and got to feed on only one cupcake yet Harris is doing so well. Physically he's mostly survived and seems to be getting better and have a quiet edge to him. You can tell he's been a leader before and will be for Butler.

I like the nickname Tater Tot, but I've referred to him as "Twinkle Toes" for the majority of the season. If he regains his shooting eye I will dub him " The Tater". LJ refers to Tate as "Little Myles". He is growing ferocious.

Does that adjust for the fact that Hayward was waxing UIC and Harris is doing it against Villanova?

I literally laughed out loud at The Tater. Woke up my gf lol. That’s hilarious to me. Not sure why. Love the nickname. Hope he starts nailing shots for two reasons now.
