https://247sports.com/player/colin-white-46136401/ Looks like a new 2024 name will be at Butler for an unofficial today. He’s a SF who 247 has ranked 115 currently. Current offer list is pretty beatable as no other high majors outside of Cincy has offered. Some others are lurking though. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
Really? The center for the Stanley Cup runners up Florida Panthers? Sent from my iPad using Butler Hoops mobile app
I watched Collin White play for a few minutes while he was playing at IU on Saturday. He looked good in the limited minutes I saw. He had 2-3 good dunks and hit a jumper.
Maybe the staff thinks his slashing ability has potential on the basketball court. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
TCU seems like a weird outlier. Guessing some kind of connection there? Gotta think it will be tough to pry him out of OH.
If Holt has another sub .500 season, I can't imagine O$U giving him another year. They are playing very average with his recruits at this point.
Surprised he survived after this past season. Another subpar performance. OSU athletic success is definitely performance based, as Matta can confirm. Holtmann is just an average head coach. Not great. But certainly not LJ level either. Average. Definitely not B10 level. Hell, he wasn't that good at Butler. His success here was due to the situation he inherited and his assistants. All about timing. And yet he arguably still underachieved as the Bulldog coach. An initial "splash" of success at OSU, now it is catching up with him and leveling out to his abilities. Again, surprised he is still there, although maybe someone in the OSU Athletic Dept. isn't yet willing to admit the mistake. TBD.
Holt has a highly ranked incoming class and it’s bought him time. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
Nikegon (especially now that they're in the B1G), Miami (considering they outbid tO$U for Nijel Pack last offseason (although that idiot is under SEC investigation rn)), USC, Kansas (they just bought Hunter Dickinson), Arkansas (thanks for shopping at Wal-Mart), Duke, UK, IU (thank Mark Cuban and the Simons), Texas
It was more of rhetorical question, but thank you. I'm sure Ohio State has plenty of rich alumni that haven't been on Shark Tank that you have never heard of; including, but not limited to: China's wealthiest woman, the CEO of PNC Bank, George Steinbrenner, Les Wexner (has donated more than $200 million to date to O$U) (has a net worth greater than Mark Cuban).
Butler has wealthy alums, but the alum would need convinced to donate to NIL versus the University. The largest donations go to the University (Lacy) primarily, Athletics second (Sellick). We just have a smaller pool of super wealthy willing to donate to the University and NIL vs. large schools. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
Believe it or not to folks in this discussion, not all Butler students, employees, faculty or alumni are sports fanatics. NOR are they they necessarily knowledgeable about how collegiate athletics function at Butler or anywhere. In my college, some colleagues are reluctant to even interview or recruit student-athletes due to stigmas associated with athletics. This is particularly the case with transfer & grad students bearing the assumptions that they’re coming to Butler for sports, not academics, education or a degree. Sadly, there is data to support some of the trepidation. My main point is I believe there needs to be “customer” education about NIL - in its current form, which will undoubtedly change - in order to secure $$$ donors from some alumni & fans.
