Does anyone have insight into what his decision will be? There are no crystal ball predictions on his 247 page.
I'll be surprised if we land him, but at least we're not competing with X or ND. I'll be ok as long as he doesn't choose OSU.
Ahhh the old "sneaky athletecism" in Travis Branham's write up on him from yesterday. I would be feeling a lot better about this if Friday hadn't happened. However, not, necessarily the same positions. White says he has versatility 1 - 3 whereas Haywood definitely looks to be a 2. We will still have one scholly available for next year if we do get White (assuming JMM enters the workforce after this year as expected). Sent from my SM-G977U using Butler Hoops mobile app
https://www.elevenwarriors.com/foru...08/140068/2024-colin-white-to-announce-sunday The comments say he hasn’t even visited OSU yet…and speculate it was probably us and Northwestern. 247 doesn’t have any crystal balls yet so who knows at this point. Seems to be playing it close to the vest. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
I like how quiet this kid has been in his recruitment. His game looks really solid too. I’m not counting on it, but would absolutely love to land him. Seems a Better shot here than a lot of other good players we’ve recruited (no insight). It would be nice to beat OSU for him too… Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
Trilly Donovan(recruiting guy) shared with a former Butler student it is OSU in a direct message on Twitter. I would be happy to be wrong.
He’s an Ohio kid so I’m sure he’s unofficially visited before. And just did a team camp in June. When OSU stepped in late, writing was on the wall. A quote right after the camp but before the offer: “IT'D BE GREAT. IN-STATE KID, YOU GROW UP WATCHING OHIO STATE, SO THAT WOULD MEAN EVERYTHING.”– WHITE ON WHAT AN OSU OFFER WOULD MEAN Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
OSU committed. In his announcement he said winning was what mattered to him with coaching staff... So we had no chance Sent from my SM-G986U using Butler Hoops mobile app
Just keep striking out. It’s not Thad’s fault. Dude can recruit. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again (and I’m not a doom and gloom guy here historically): Butler hoops is on life support and I don’t see it turning out well. We can blame the admin all we want - and they’re certainly blameworthy to an extent. But NIL is the thing that’s running the train off the tracks now, and it’s just hard to see how Butler competes long term under the new “rules”. I just can’t see it, but I also think college sports as we know it is toast anyway, so maybe it doesn’t matter. God it was fun while it lasted though. Feel horrible for this staff. Not their fault. Fighting with two hands behind their backs.
All we need is for Thad and his staff to perform an "Inception" in Danko so that he is convinced that the way to deal with the "cliff" is to have a nationally relevant basketball program, and that it's his idea, so he focuses his fund raising efforts in that direction. Either that or have the ghost of Bobby Fong visit him in his sleep... Sent from my SM-G977U using Butler Hoops mobile app
I’m not convinced there’s much we can do institutionally to right the ship at this point. University resources were the answer 5 years ago or even 3. In 2023? The answer is rich alumni. Well, really, just a few super rich alumni who also are obsessed with sports. Not something over which anyone has a lot of control.
Wish I had a dollar for every time we struck out when we were in the final five for a candidate going back over the past ten years.
I feel like we may be doomed to finish in every halfway decent kid’s top five because we have a staff that excels at recruiting and kids have nothing but good things to say about them, but doesn’t have the institutional backing to seal the deal. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
