Hughes had 14 pts. and 11 rebounds to lead #1 LN, but they suffered their first loss to #2 Homestead 56-50 in OT. (BTW Hughes was 2 0f 4 on free throws.)

LN had been 8-0 in games decided by 5 pts or less before the Homestead game with 3 of those wins coming in OT.

It did break a 17 game winning streak, dating back to the sectionals, when the tournament was cancelled. They have played a most challenging schedule, but play with fire you will eventually get burned.

It's too bad we missed out on Goode and Fletcher Loyer from Homestead. Purdue seems to have a stronghold on Homestead basketball. Loyer is probably the better of the two, averaging 25 ppg as a junior to Goode's 20 ppg. Dropped 27 on LN. He's averaging 50% from 3 this season on 118 attempts.

The addition of Loyer has given Homestead a potent 1-2 scoring punch. Each has enough size to create mismatches at the HS level.

Hughes led LN to a 45-35 win over Center Grove with 14 pts. LN won today over Jeffersonville 55-50. No stats as of yet.

Hughes fouled out after, I believe, scoring only 2 pts. as #4 Carmel soundly defeated #2 LN tonight.

Hughes and LN play at Connersville tomorrow at 1:30. It'll stream live on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/user/LocalTV3) if anyone wants to watch it.

I doubt it'll be much of a game. Connersville has a pretty young team this year and doesn't have the horses to hang with LN. Also be prepared for Connersville to try to slow it down. So might not be a game you can take a bunch from. But it's always a good broadcast and an opportunity to see Hughes play.

DJ's performance was certainly less than stellar against Carmel. He had several critical mistakes and did not appear 100% engaged?

Combining this with the Will Shaver news isn't fun to see for a position of such critical need. I'm sure things will turn but, until then, eek.

When your "under the radar 3 star" whose best offers are from Ball State and Toledo is putting up numbers like this, and struggling to be engaged in the game, you start to worry.

This was a reach to begin with, and seems like even more of a reach now. Hope we aren't putting many eggs in this basket for our "big" position.

Hughes is raw, but the physical talent is there. Whether that will transfer to the next level remains to be seen.

After missing his 1st shot Hughes connected on his next 12. He finished with 24 pts, 20 of which came by way of 2 handed dunks. He hauled down 6 boards along 3 assists and missed his only free toss as LN defeated FW Snider 95-70 on the road this afternoon.

LN will need a deep run for Hughes to have an opportunity to be a member of the Indiana All-star team. Still he remains under the radar. Yesterday's game was a perfect example.

Talked to a guy who attended this game. Apparently Snider employs a 5-guard lineup most of the time..... which would help explain the 10 dunks for Hughes. He’s not going to be an all-star, they just don’t put 3 from the same school on the team very often.

Point guard Shamar Avance could be considered but CJ Gunn is only a junior. Snider's tallest player was 6'4" and the next 2 taller players were listed at 6'2" and all were listed as guards?

DJ physically looks like he can play in the BE.
