Thanks for clarifying. Is that the same for Johnson-Arigu? Sent from my SM-G977U using Butler Hoops mobile app
I can see it both ways on this kid. 1) You have to hope the summer breakout was real, and Butler was the early bird getting the worm here, until other programs figured it out. 2) That being said, it's weird to me that there weren't the IUs, Purdues, Ohio States, Xaviers, Notre Dames, DePaul, Marquettes, Cincys, at least sniffing around on this kid. Maybe they were but it wasn't reported? When you look his offers, it's not an inspiring list. I am hopeful, but we've been burned before.
"When you look his offers, it's not an inspiring list." should read "It was the weakest list of offers I have ever seen."
If this were LaVall...I'd be more riled up about it. With it being Thad...until he proves me wrong he knows talent much better. Let's see what this kid has.
I'm with you on this, even factoring in the mulligan on Hunter. I would have thrown Ali in there, too, but he was unable to be with the team for the first half of the season. Sent from my SM-G977U using Butler Hoops mobile app
Manny was a good get and I would be feeling a lot better about this year if he were still with us. Sent from my SM-G977U using Butler Hoops mobile app
He was an asset. Injuries were barriers. Might’ve been different now had he maintained his academic eligibility last spring, which he claimed was a priority. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
Personally, I'd like to welcome Haywood to the team. The negativity in his thread is disheartening. Until he proves me otherwise, I'm happy to have him on board and think he has some serious potential to be a contributor. Many of the best players Butler has gotten have flown under the radar (Baldwin, McDermott, Rosie, etc.). I hope he proves to be one of those cases. He has above average size, can defend, and can shoot the three. Those are three things we have been more than missing these past few years. I trust Thad's eyes.
Ahem, I guess I'm back...doubt anyone noticed I was gone. Anyhow, a stroke can't keep me down. I think a couple of things are going on here. One, our 2024 results have been bad at best, nonexistent is more like it. So, if we had a couple 4 stars in the bank, then this commitment would have been received in the way that it should be, a potential diamond in the rough. Just look at Finley's page for comparison, he wasn't good enough to some and while it still remains to be seen, I think most are on board the Bizjack train. Second, it's possible that had we not offered, then other programs would have started to pick up the trail. The kid's Dad not only played at Butler, but he was co-captain with Thad. I'm surprised the commitment took as long as it did after the offer was extended. Third, as mentioned, the plan is probably to redshirt unless we have another exodus of players ala this season. If that happens though, I don't think it will matter much for a long, long time. Finally, we still presumably have two scholarships to work with for next season. I'm guessing unless one of the offers pops, that we'll pocket them for the portal/late bloomer or decommit types. The more I think about 2024, the more I think the portal strategy hurt us here. Top 100 kids want to come in and play. They don't want to sit on the bench behind upperclassmen with a couple years of eligibility left. I really hope Thad hit on these guys and they stick around. Remember, this time last year almost no one was on Marquette and look where they are at. I'm not saying the same thing will happen here, but it is possible. And if it's possible, I think that Thad is the one guiding the ship. There's no way we finish 11th in the BE without a complete catastrophic meltdown. No way. Mark my words as they may be my last.
Don’t like your first two sentences nor your last one. The rest are OK. Don’t know how old you are but regular and solid arrhythmic exercise , healthy diet and meditation did the trick for me. Haven’t had a stroke but have had two heart attacks in the past thirty years the first one was close to a widow maker causing me to lose 20% of my heart function. You can live many more years with the proper focus.
WTF dude. Hit me up and let me know what the hell is going on. And if this is your last rodeo, can we go see the hot bartender chick one more time?
Glad you are on the road to recovery. And it actually was his uncle that played with Thad back in the day. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
Sorry all, I didn’t mean to make that seem as dire as it was. Officially it was a TIA or mini-stroke as they say, but it was scary and opened my eyes a bunch. I will say that when you’re having a stroke you will know. All of the symptoms that have been hammered down our throats are real and there’s no mistaking them. That said I was lucky and I know it. Symptoms abated in a few hours and no lasting damage. I was flirting with the ICU nurses by the next morning. All kidding aside, I’m going to live a healthier life because I want to see Butler back at the Final Four. It might take some time at this pace. Thank you all for the support and kind words, it does mean a lot. Also, should I read the 35 pages of new posts in Random or let them go? Haha. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
Glad you’re through it all the wiser. TIA’s are no joke. My dad had one. Scary. Appreciate your humor & light heartedness. Venture into previous posts as you dare, ha! Be well. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
It will be interesting to see if Evan cracks into the rankings. He did jump from #42 to #6 in the state of Indiana. Sent from my SM-G977U using Butler Hoops mobile app
