Here is a very interesting development. Butler offers Bidunga from Kokomo (#7 in his class of ‘23). Flory tweets this out, which is the only tweet he’s ever posted and follows a lot of Butler staff/Finley

 

Are we sure it’s legit, then?

 

Wondered that too, but Diebler and mojo follow the account so…

 

I think he is 2024, which would line up better for us (assuming 2 years of Manny), but fun to see us getting into the mix!!

Have to hope there is some real traction regarding Bidunga.

 

Potential future lottery pick. Sans NIL, I’d believe Thad could do it. With NIL, I’m less sure, simply because we’ll need to find some money. He will absolutely command some $$$ from alumni of wherever he commits.

Yeah, it’s all such a mess because it so clearly is/will be going forward. Most prospective lottery picks are purely going to go to the highest bidding alumni. A big part of a coach’s job going forward will be connecting those alumni to the people in the recruit’s circle, whether the rules allow it or not.

I certainly don’t blame a kid for taking the most money offered, it just sucks as a fan.

 

The “rules” are currently nonexistent and programs like Butler who actually want to do it the right way will be penalized. We will never have crazy NIL money so those players who mostly care about that will look elsewhere. But we can attract the next tier of kids and with Thad and staff hopefully will make up some of that gap. Still think NIL will see some regulation in the next few years so the existing wild wild West should settle down some.

I have seen some pretty stupid GoFundMe pages, someone start one for Flory to bring a title to Butler.

 

Word around town is… Flory is on campus today. The Theta house has this hanging up

 

Paint that picture of Harris, Taylor, Simas, Tate & Wilmoth as super seniors/seniors, Pierce as a redshirt junior and Turnbull in his 3rd year (redshirt soph or junior) and add Flory for your core 8...

May need to reinforce the rims if you have Pierce and Flory both getting significant minutes.

Kind of a fun thought if you can let yourself go there!
