Nope. Especially in the death humidity season. Bushwhackers are the best. And oh so dangerous.

In Ballantyne? I know you’re already in BBQ country, but if you’re in Ballantyne, the Midwood smokehouse in the same shopping center is phenomenal.

Yessir. And we are staying right across the street from Midwood. It's on the agenda either for dinner tonight, or, depending on games tomorrow, lunch. I've perused their menu and it looks outstanding. Although I am a North Mississippi native, I do really enjoy Carolina BBQ. We have it in Highlands but nowhere in Georgia that's worth a crap. Saying that...appreciate the recommendation. We've been looking at it since we got here. I was craving brunch this morning so we did that. But I think tonight it's bbq time.

I feel bad coming to Charlotte and not sneaking into Uptown but, there are so many great food options around Ballantyne which I've never tried. Plus our hotel has $5 titos all weekend. Not bad for a hotel bar.

You’re in for a treat tonight. Their brisket and ribs are incredible. You can choose fatty, lean or a mix on the brisket and you have to at least have some fatty.

I stay at the Courtyard on the other side of 485 when I’m there for work, but I run near your hotel as there are some great trails in that area.

I Always go with a mix on brisket. Fatty is super easy to do well, but IMO if you *really* know what you’re doing-lean is better. Of course when I make mine my lean always ends up becoming mostly chili or tacos.

Not really food porn, but I forgot to snap a pic of last weekend’s homemade mushroom risotto. So good. So these are homemade cheezits. The kids love them.

I decided to spend a little extra time on dinner yesterday after having a rough couple of days mid week with the stomach flu and not really eating for a few days. (If you like being healthy, don't have kids). Mixed up a light seasoning rub and then threw some THICC pork chops on the smoker over mesquite for about an hour until they got up to ~130*. Pulled to rest and then flashed seared on the gas grill to give a little char and bring up the last little bit to temp.

Forgot to snap a picture, but man were they delicious. Tender, juicy, and the mesquite flavor was the perfect addition to the chops.

I can’t match Willis, but a nice show at the City Winery. The mushroom risotto with goat cheese balls never disappoint.

Goat cheese/risotto balls are legit. Especially with a good marinara...spicy even. A place by mom's does that and they are devilish.

Mother’s Day brunch consisted of croque madames, knockoff Cracker Barrel cheesy hash brown casserole, and asparagus topped with some leftover Mornay sauce from the sammies. Nap to ensue very shortly.

It's not terrible. And for the flight it was only $20. You can't beat that for a full bottle and three juices at a bar.
