So I threw a brisket on the BGE around midnight last night. After a solid 15 hours of smoking, this is the finished product, along with the homemade baked beans and harissa slaw. Brisket turned out perfect.

Left a bit of the fat on there to render, and it has now rendered me useless for the evening.

The late, great CNN Sports Anchor Nick Charles would take his crew to Impellizzeri's every year he was in Louisville to cover the Derby.

It was outstanding. I had never been but atmosphere was great, music bumping, good service and the pizza was top notch. Highly recommend as a low cost/high end pizza/pub while in Louisville. And great for all ages as we had two minions along with us. They had meatball subs which they said were badass also.

Didn’t take any pictures, unfortunately, but for those Indy locals that are looking for a good spot, the BluPoint Oyster House at the “new” MK building south of Kessler on College is outstanding. Great food and service, to boot.

On anything, for that matter. Maybe too much time in the restaurant industry in my more formative years, but the even the smell of it (ranch included) is repulsive. Too many times I’ve seen people eat the equivalent of a soup cup of it with a single order of fries.

I'll do ketchup on Krystal fries and maybe onion rings if I don't have another choice. That's about where I draw the line.

Vacation on the gulf this week. We were following the Blue Angels practice and ended up at David's Catfish House in Pensacola, Florida for lunch after. Okra, mac & cheese, hush puppies, two huge blackened filets & a local belgian wheat. Miserably stuffed when we left. Happy summer everyone.
