And hit on 12 if the dealer is showing a 2, 3, 4.

Just got to hope Wisky beats aTm because we may have a chance with them then won't have to play Chaminade if we can win that.

I'm not sure Houston doesn't beat us by 20+. Interested to see where the line opens...I'm guessing 9-10 or so.

And Stax...it ain't getting better. This thing is in bad shape right now.

If the line is 9 I’m hitting Houston easily. The 5th ranked D against our horrible O? That’s free money…

I’m thinking another 20-pt loss, a loss to TAMU, and a close win against the Silver Swords.

This is a huge week for Butler basketball. That’s probably a tad dramatic but after the MSU game I’m pretty concerned where this program is going. I’m hoping for the best and expecting the worst.

My expectations right now are about as low as they can be so I don't expect much of anything. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. I unfortunately watched that Houston beatdown of UVA...just wow. You just don't see UVA get smacked around like that.

I think we all mostly share your concerns. I've been still in this weird, hopeless state since Wednesday about 2-3 minutes into the game. I can name the reasons this is the way we're feeling and why it's logical but I think we all have in other threads.

A few things are keeping me relatively optimistic for this game, but still not very optimistic.

    1. Houston is guard dominate. 2 of their players make up half of their team's points. I say this with optimism because I feel we struggle more with dominant front courts. We can put AT on one of them. Say what you want about his offense, but he may be a top 5 defensive guard in the country. I feel like Chuck is also a plus-defender, so there is that. With Nze being out, I expect a lot of Wilmoth, which means there will be a rim protector if the guards get past their men. With that being said, play them tight and no threes (their two guards that score a lot Sasser and Edwards are shooting 48% and 45% each from downtown this season). The emphasis playing Houston has to be on keeping them off the three point line, as a team they are shooting 42% from three.

    2. They only average 4 blocks per game, so maybe this LaVall iso offense could score a few buckets.

    3. Sure they smacked Virginia around, but they had to go to overtime to beat Hofstra (albeit a good Hofstra team). By the way, Virginia is 2-2 and lost to Navy at home.

    4. Without Nze (trust me, I'd rather have him healthy), but it will force us to go small which I think plays better to whatever "gameplan" LaVall usually spits out.

    5. Houston has played all three of their games at home (I know, so have we), but we don't know how they will react to being outside of Houston.

    Good points ^.

However… Butler has seemingly given up a ton of open 3s. Most teams just weren’t hitting them. Houston likely will. If they are, it’s ugly. If they aren’t, it might be close.

Also holiday tournaments are weird. Anything can happen.
