I can’t believe it has to be written here but there is no role for JMM healthy or not.

Sent from my iPhone, so it’s probably not written all that well

Sounds harsh when you put it that way. I know what you’re saying but JMM contributes on many levels and knowing his role and being enthused about it is everything you can hope for in a BU player.

Fair enough. But I think it’s clear enough I meant no role *on the court*

I just think you can go to your depth to use him, at least a bit, while Thomas is out. That’s all. I know you disagree and that’s all good

What role would that be? Beavis is nothing more than a Cheerleader.

I was really impressed by Hunter. Fluid with the ball, knows how to run the offense and seemed to effortlessly drain shots. It's only one game, but his role will be so important in conference games.

He should be valuable against PSU, I assume he's the only one on the team that has ever played in that arena. The good news is that it is still football season in State College and there won't be a lot of focus on them playing some yahoo's slotted at #123 in the Kenpom rankings.

PSU has no one to contend with MB. No one...

Correct. I truly have no idea how they guard him in this game.

The key for BU will be defending the 3 balls. While I don't relish this match-up with Shrews, BU's chances will hinge on defense. JMO

Maybe the guy we were hot after Nje or whatever his name is will get 20 minutes as he is likely biggest body Penn State has. Likely raw Frosh but he did get 10 minutes in first game for PSU

They’re gonna have to double team every time ball goes in post. The kick out 3 ball will be there all night, can we actually connect?

New Orleans had to come from 5 down with under 4 min to go to beat St. Francis of IL, 65-63. Yikes!

He looked pretty good on defence much of the time. As I've said before, he shows pretty good lateral footwork and bodies opponents well.

But---seemingly--- he would not normally be expected to offer much on offense. Except screens. He can do that. I think he throws better screens then we've seen in a while.

I think i remember discussions we've had here about the poorly-placed and generally weak and lazy screens BU was employing over the last 4 or 5 years.

I'm not sure about the lateral footwork, maybe in the post, but certainly not on the perimeter where he looked limited to me last year defending the pick and roll, similar to Bryce Golden. He did play tough, showed he could body-up opposing post players, and grab some rebounds. I think he can have a role with Jalen Thomas out. Thad will just need to put out an offensively-capable team around him because he is providing none of that. If Jalen Thomas and Bates are healthy, I think he and DJ will both be on the bench.
