Thought I'd start this thread since it seems we have a good amount of golf hobbyists here. I'm pretty terrible but still have always enjoyed it. Played my first round of the year on Wednesday and shot 95 at the Eagle Creek Sycamore course.
Have a tee time set for stockfarm here in Montana It’s done in Hamilton, mt One of the nicest private clubs in the northwest and my best friend from high school is director of golf operations there Check it out So stoked to get on the course Also some insane public course hidden gems around Missoula mt Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
I try to get out once a week at least. Played Country Club of Oxford a couple weeks ago and it was fabulous. Probably the best I've struck a ball this year. I'm also fortunate enough to be able to play Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek. Two great courses and have held two PGA championships plus numerous amateur tournaments. We have an ish ton to do this weekend (birthday, mother's day, the daughter's graduation celebration) so I probably won't get out. But I'm itching to go hammer away again. As far as the PGA...smart money and conservative play would be on Scheffler. But that's boring. I'm going to look at the odds this coming week and probably fire in on 5 or 6 guys for outright winner.
Anyone looking for a trip destination, I’d highly suggest checking out Sand Valley in Wisconsin. It’s operated by the same group that did Bandon Dunes.
Hard for me to like anyone but Rahm or Scheffler right now. But yeah, very boring and too obvious. I do like Adam Scott as a longer shot play. Trending up.
Rahm and Scottie are so far ahead of everyone else right now. Koepka if he’s in robot major mode. I think I’ll stick to a Draftkings lineup and lay off the outrights
I’m just flabbergasted at the money in golf today. Back in the 60’s most every tournament was &100k purse with the winner getting $20k. (Yes, I’m old). Now the purses and paydays are out of this world. There are 11 tournaments that have purses of $20,000,000 or more. 1st gets 3.6 mil. One could argue that a single win would be plenty for expenses and cost of living for the year. I just don’t understand how sponsorship can make money this way. My dad bought us a round of golf together in French Lick at the Donald Ross course a few months from now for my birthday. Looking forward to it!
I'm playing Scheffler at +750 and Morikawa at +3400...will probably sprinkle a little on the Preakness this weekend too.
Finding it tough to bet the PGA… The anecdotes coming from people onsite are that it’s going to play like 2020 Winged Foot - i.e., smasher’s paradise. If it plays like that, Morikawa is a terrible pick. He hits it shorter than every other elite player. But the leaderboard from the last time the pga was at this course wasn’t a long hitter’s club all. Several very short guys near the top. No idea what to make of it. Always pulling for Rory tho!
I am loading up on John Daly... I'm the same though, still trying to feel out who I want to lay on. But, cannot wait for it. Always a fun tourney.
