Wow . I think $120 million also lives in Charlotte. Good for him. Michael Jordan must see him as a marquee guy for a few more years - I hope his legs carry him for four more years - major major bucks...
Congrats to Gordon! I hope he has a nice stretch of health and is in top form on the court. Sent from my SM-G977U using Butler Hoops mobile app
Celtics getting nothing in return. Hornets waive Batum and his $27 million contract. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...-four-year-120-million-deal-charlotte-hornets Sent from my SM-G975U using Butler Hoops mobile app
I just don’t get it, assuming the Celtics were willing to give something in that range (and word all spring summer was that they did want to extend him). He’s going from arguably the best nba franchise to arguably the worst. And the hornets are gonna be trash while he’s there, too. Sent from my iPhone, so it’s probably not written all that well
I guess a combination of money and being the number 1 option. Indiana would have been home but maybe wasn’t willing to go as high money wise and he wouldn’t have been clear cut 1. Boston offered the best chance at championship/finals but also probably was just hard bc of all the injuries and is currently the 4th option. Maybe warmer weather too? The fact that the Pacers have literally done nothing except make a second round selection this offseason is very frustrating. Another mediocre season and first round playoff loss incoming.
Yeah but Gordon still has to choose between deducting his donations and having them count toward his priority points. Sent from my SM-G977U using Butler Hoops mobile app
Nothing personal, but I feel like this angsty feeling is why so many bad, terrible, splashy deals are done at the beginning of NBA and NFL free agency. But yeah, the Pacers will once again be just good enough. Unless, a miracle happens before the trading deadline when they send Oladipo packing...
Sam Quinn trashes the Hayward deal. https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...-worst-free-agent-contracts-in-recent-memory/ Sportswriters strive to create controversy, so much of the dialogue is hyperbole - none the less he makes some arguable points - its an expensive deal, and it comes with risks. Hayward needs to stay healthy for it to work out - and they are investing a lot of cash. Gordon is one of the few people in the NBA with ten seasons under his belt and still is only 30 years old. He brings veteran leadership to a very young team that has decent upside over the next 3 years. He will get plenty of playing minutes in Charlotte, which was not the case in Boston. And, like most high performence athletes, his level of play will rise as he gets more time on the court. What cannot be measured well with analytics is how competitve a player is under pressure. Gordon is very competitive - hates to lose, and adds a lot to the overall roster performance with his skills and attitude. It is a bold gamble, but there is potential in that gamble.
He's also going to get every team's best defender now. He got that in Utah, but he's aged and had injuries since then. He didn't have that in Boston. I'm pulling for him, Hornets will now be my third favorite team, but I can't imagine he's going to like losing there.
On the bright side he’s probably made more in his career than every xavier player combined. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
I was thinking Hayward Court in Hinkle Fieldhouse. Sent from my SM-G977U using Butler Hoops mobile app
