Those two combined haven't made half of what Hayward has and will. It's in large part because of how much the salary cap has went up though. West - $91 million https://www.spotrac.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/david-west-2613/cash-earnings/ Hayward - $300+ million by the time his hornets contract is over https://www.spotrac.com/nba/charlotte-hornets/gordon-hayward-6891/cash-earnings/ He also has an endorsement deal with Chinese brand Anta Sports Products and HyperX E-Sports
Numbers are from basketball-reference.com: Hayward: $150.9M Brian Grant: $109.8M David West: $92.1M James Posey: $57M Tyrone Hill: $51M Aaron Williams: $23.6M All had 10+ year careers and were active within the last 20 years, and this is a non-exhaustive list
Have to admit I’m shocked brian grant made nearly that much. Wouldn’t have guessed that. What in the world. To be fair: it’s more relevant to consider what Hayward will have made at the end of his career, which will be a minimum of 280M plus the 40 from the shoe deal. And that’s if he never plays a day over age 34. So, 320 vs about 330 in that list. Again, I’m frickin shocked about grant. Bleacher has a piece where they labeled him the most overpaid role player in nba history. But hey, good for him, he got the cash.
I get where you were going although the numbers are Hayward at $310 (including his sponsorship money) through this new contract and the four Xavier players I listed at $335 (not including their sponsorship money and I know West at least had some), which is a far cry from doubling every Xavier player's earnings. And there are other Xavier players who could be included. I remember Grant getting signed to the Heat for what seemed like a ridiculous amount at the time, though to be fair none of these guys were playing during this period where the revenue sharing sent the cap soaring.
Yeah, I just had no idea grant made anything in the ballpark of that money. Like, I’d have guessed 20 million lol. So yeah, it’s not close. Sent from my iPhone, so it’s probably not written all that well
Well if we are throwing in Aaron Williams lets add Shelvin's tally, must have been close to $20 million.
That's changing the comparison. It wasn't Butler NBA players vs. Xavier NBA players. It was Hayward vs. ALL NBA players from Xavier, which was just an on-its-face silly claim. Shelvin didn't play 10 years. I only added in recent Xavier players with 10+ year careers. If you want to do a Butler v. Xavier comparison you add in his $17.8M and Kelan Martin's $500K to the Butler ledger for a total of $18.3M. Then you add to the following to the Xavier ledger: Derek Strong ($20.3M), Jordan Crawford ($6M), Edmond Sumner ($2.5M), Derrick Brown ($2M), Michael Hawkins ($1.2M), Lionel Chalmers ($1.1M), Semaj Christon ($500K), Myles Morrissey ($200K). That's a total of $33.8M. It's still not coming out in our favor. We need to get more guys into the league!
Well ****, I stand corrected and shocked. Given what the cap was in Brian Grant's days, that's a lot of money.
That is true - and it may be coming soon. Anyway, an amusing time killing sidebar thread - - still 56 hours till tipoff...
https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...r-during-preseason-game-listed-as-day-to-day/ Gordon breaks another bone, I wonder if there is some osteoporosis there.
Looks like the move to Charlotte is paying off for both the franchise and for Gordon. https://www.cbssports.com/nba/gametracker/recap/NBA_20210108_CHA@NO/
While the current dawgs may be in disarray, Gordon's numbers just keep getting better (gotta find some good news). https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...n-and-is-showing-exactly-why-they-signed-him/
