He needs to work on his jumper but he has the potential to be outstanding.
Totally agree with peeps. Defense is where he can shine especially if he changes his approach to that end of the court. His shot is pretty ugly but if it goes in is what counts. I don't think he will ever be considered a shooter though. He needs to learn to play to his strengths at this point. That will ensure more quality playing time at this point. I could see him developing into a defensive stopper down the road.
Concur with this, play to your strengths. He can ensure a ton of playing time in the future if he learns the defense inside and out and works on his technique. The physical tools are there to bottle up most guards. He'll be as quick or quicker than and as long or longer than any guard he's likely to face. Doesn't hurt that he can probably jump 3 feet in the air and swat somebody from behind if they do get around him.
Regarding offense, I almost think he'd be better served focusing on his ball handling than anything else. With his quickness, if he can learn to handle it real well, I'd think he'd be a huge threat to be a driving/interior scoring specialist and his shooting wouldn't matter all that much. Thoughts anyone?
Totally agree. At this point he seems a little more interested in offense, unlike Freeport Willy who arrived with a mindset to contribute in other ways. Willy is one of my all-time favorites and he developed into a complete player by the time he was a senior. Henry has that opportunity.
I actually think this makes a lot of sense. Defense is a must, work on ball-handling and the jump shot is a bonus- if he develops into a slasher/finisher then awesome. I have also noticed Henry make some very crisp passes in games so I think he is a very unselfish player as well. I like what I have seen so far.
I'd be okay with this. I'd love for him to turn into a springier Willy Veasley...maybe like a Vanzant-Veasley hybrid.
It's impressive how well Baddley is playing. Love to see him slash more and perhaps convert to a two. One disagreement with Jordan on the comment about athleticism- I think Baldwin is pretty athletic.
My inter-dialogue says "NO" when HB shoots a 3, but then it goes in and it says "great shot". Eventually water reaches it's level. Do I think HB is truly a 46% 3 pt. shooter? No, but the % is a lot better than his shooting form looks.
Can the Henry Baddley debate move to the Henry Baddley thread?
I thought Baddley showed a lot of improvement from year 1 to year 2. You are right that he received a lot of open looks, but his freshman year he only shot around the rim. If he continues to gain confidence, he can be a good player in the BE.
I also thought Henry Baddley already has his own thread.
