The stock of Elijah Burns '15 & Howard Washington Jr. '16 is on the rise. Both have looked good early on at the #NYSTop24

    ---------------

Verbal commits has Butler with interest in 2016 Howard Washington. Don't know how valid it is though. Kline lists Washington as ascending in this tweet.

Howard Washington (Butler has shown interest) of the Canisius High School basketball team will not return for his junior year, according to Rivals.com and HoopsHype.com. It was reported on Friday night that the highly recruited 6-foot-2 point guard is transferring to Montverde Academy in Montverde, FL, the #1 ranked high school basketball program (2014, maxpreps).

Washington was the Monsignor Martin Association’s Co-Player of the Year, averaging 15 points and 5.5 assists per game. Even before the start of last season, Washington had received scholarship offers from Virginia Tech, Virginia, Boston College, Boston University, Canisius College, the University at Buffalo, Charlotte and Siena. He is considered a Top 50 national recruit from the Class of 2016.

I mentioned Howard a few years ago when he was at Canisius and his sister was in school with my daughter. Look at Truehart on that same Eybl team. On the younger City Rocks team 15u is Joe Jones III (Greg Oden's brother) and a 2018 SG Brandon Smith

I saw him last summer at Run N Slam, but didn't watch him this year because I honestly didn't think Butler was still involved. Haven't seen there name mentioned with him in a long time. He was one of the top players in his class at the event when I saw him, and it doesn't sound like that has changed. This is not to say that I wouldn't love any of the PGs we have currently offered, but he would instantly bolt near the top of my wish list if he got an offer. He's in a class with Goodin.

Another pg planning a visit here in June: Howard Washington, 6-2 4* from Florida. Planning visits to WF, X, and BU. Will be interesting to see how this plays out with Walker, Simpson, Charlie Moore, now Washington visiting the next few weeks. From the little bit I've read, Washington might be my #1 option from this list. That size at the 1 would also be nice versus those other 5-10 types.

Like Washington's size versus Walker, Moore , Aiken and Simpson.
247 has him going to Syracuse. This is the pg we all want. Take him over the other four.

He's more of a Combo Gaurd. It'd likely be Goodin that he'd be competing with, but I'm certainly not convinced we can land Goodin.

Butler would still want one of the 4 you mention.

You are right 247 has him at a cg. Others have him at a pg. Either way I'd take him over the other four based on talent and size and have Tyler Lewis work with him to be the next pg. Ditto if it were Goodin.

This is based on nothing more than a gut instinct but I have a feeling Washington will end up at Butler unless he really blows up this summer. Someone who Butler has recruited going back to Stevens days (even if it has been off and on) and is under the radar right now since he's playing on some stacked teams in both high school and AAU.

Howard may be at a summer league game in Buffalo tomorrow watching some City Rocks friends play. I'll wear my son's 2003 Butler "We're No Cinderella" shirt as I'm one of the teams' photographers.

I'll certainly defer to you here. I know he is surrounded with talent which accounts for his lack of scoring and leads to more assists.

I had read several months back that he actually shoots the ball really well and plays good defense. I thought he'd be somebody who would pair well with somebody like Walker who scores the ball well.

There's not much video to speak of, so I'm going strictly of a reports.

    He'd certainly be my preference.

This is exactly why I'd prefer Washington to Walker. He's got great size for a PG and is a PASS-first point. Said to be great in pick-in-roll and has a decent jumpshot already. He's got the potential to be great. Hoping we make him a priority.

According to a number of tweet comments Washington is an elite passer. 247 reflects an offer from Butler along with Syracuse, Memphis, Notre Dame, Villanova, Virginia and Xavier.

Saw Howard tonight as he came to watch my daughter's school in a summer league game. Mentioned my son's positive Butler experiences. He wasn't favoriting any school as he was wearing his Nike EYBL shirt. Though I've been around him a lot during his playing time in Western New York, I really see a maturity level far above most teenagers as well as players his age.

You didn't happen to ask him if he did in fact have an offer or how he feels about Butler or anything of that ilk? Just curious
