We could be on the verge of shattering our big man curse if Bates ends up committing. Might as well be in a parallel universe with the way things keep coming up roses for us, considering everything that has happened before that. We're about to be spoiled...And I like it.

Not much in the way of video out there but it appears he is similar to Nze but better at the FT line. He's a solid addition.

Similar if by 3-4 inches taller and a legit shot blocker. But seriously would be stoked if he was Nze with size

Another plus is Jalen Thomas is very good on the academic side.

So in no way a reflection on jalen and more a commentary on our team, but I kinda feel like if we were a baseball team down two runs and we just hit a triple.

Like by itself it’s nice but it doesn’t move the needle. If, however, we get a home run next, this will then end up as a huge event.

Exactly my thoughts. Thomas is a huge addition if he’s playing 15 minutes off the bench behind Bates.

No doubt Manny Bates would be the crown jewel for this front court, still the fact that we got someone who is long and athletic but not a pushover is significant. For a long time now I've been concerned that Butler would never be able to make themselves appealing to Big East caliber bigs, yet now we've managed to position ourselves to have potentially two on the roster at the same time. This Staff, along with Oden assisting them, have made Butler an excellent option for kids to consider, that alone feels like a huge win in itself.

He put up 12 points, 9 boards, and 2 blocks against Gonzaga, so he should at least be decent.

Butler doesn't necessarily need Hakeem Olajuwon at that spot either. Just someone who can rebound, block shots, score put backs, give hard screens, and do some of the dirty work inside.

If the season started today, he's the starting center. So even if we don't land Bates, I think it's a key addition. The frontcourt had a HUGE hole otherwise.

Does anyone know who else was in on Thomas?

Only highlights I have seen is has a great touch around the rim and very quick feet

I think we under estimate how big that is for us and how we have not had that in a big who is 6’10

Andrew Smith was at least 6’10” and he was pretty solid on the second runner up team.

Definitely happy to have both he and Ali Ali on the team. I don't see either one being a game changer on their own without development in the offseason, but both will be able to help the team next season.

Still a need (IMO) for another lead guard, and then if they could somehow land Bates, you undoubtedly take him. I have no idea what the team can be next year, but I'm looking forward to finding out.

In Thad we trust. Think he has proven he is a good/great in game coach. You don’t win 20 games in 16 of your 17 seasons as a head coach.

Fully expect with current roster Thad gets us to middle of Big East as he wins 3-4 of the close games we lost toward end of last Big East Season.

If team buys into their roles that Thad determines will utilize their skill set I see a 18-22 win team and NIT all but a lock and a NCAA bid as a possibility. We add one more big so Thomas doesn’t have to play 30 minutes a night and JMM can stay at role of providing 5-10 minutes a night when needed then I think we move much closer to NCAA tourney team.

Just happy to have a positive outlook.
