Another 2022 offer. Will have an article out later (Edit: Article will come out tomorrow - will be adding some comments from Hannah after chatting with him)
4 star combo guard out of Michigan, excellent 3 level scorer. And would love to team his hair with Scooby's
Please feel free to check out. All-around combo scoring guard with range. Dropped 60 points this past season which was a county record.
Another exciting looking 2022 prospect! Looks like he has a nice diversity to his offensive game and makes some nice decisions in the video. If he is efficient, looks similar to the Justin Taylor offer! Sent from my SM-G930V using Butler Hoops mobile app
Damn, the kid looks like he has range out to halfcourt. Reminds me of Markus Howard -- only a better distributor though. I know HS highlight videos can be deceptive but he looks like he could create shots and score at D1 level right now, after just 2 years of high school.
Just posted my (free) article on this offer. I had a chance to talk with JaVaughn over the phone this weekend so I have some quotes from him in the piece. https://www.patreon.com/posts/2022-guard-talks-38406933
Damn. That euro spin in the lane at the bucket was smooth. Kid looks like a serious player. I love it.
I have watched the highlights a few times. What stood out to me was the number of times he found the open player cutting to the basket, and his ability to control his body when he could have easily gotten called for a charge. I also liked that he didn't need to celebrate after every basket. While I realize the highlights are carefully selected, he doesn't look like he will dribble the air out of the basketball causing the offense to become stagnant. I am starting to envision a team in the next few years that could have all 5 starters averaging double digits. I didn't say it would happen, but it is an exciting thought.
There’s an article on ESPN today about Emoni Bates. His dad is starting a “high school”, and the intention is to recruit other top kids to attend. Hannah is mentioned. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-b...bates-2022-top-recruit-commits-michigan-state “The one guarantee in Bates' future is where he will attend high school in the fall. Elgin is opening up a prep school run as a satellite campus to Aim High Academy in Michigan. He told ESPN that all the classes are NCAA certified and approved. They plan on playing a national schedule against the best high school teams in the country, including Montverde Academy and IMG in Florida, and they're recruiting some of Bates' AAU teammates and other talented prospects from around the nation. Javaughn Hannah, another 2022 prospect, is expected to attend the school, as is high-major center Shawn Phillips and five-star guard Dillon Hunter of Atlanta.”
I'd put this in the Recruiting Notes 5.0 thread, I didn't know Hannah had his own thread since I didn't see a 2022 Recruiting Profiles sub-forum.
Not sure how active Butler still is with Hannah but this could be worth noting. Dawgs already offered Hannah and then Rozier is set to unofficially visit campus on I believe the 6th.
Okay, either this is an absolutely huge pickup for WMU, or did Hannah tank in recent rankings? I thought he was looked at as one of the biggest reaches that we offered early?
That is a huge pickup for WMU, just visited and offered on Aug 5. Picked over Marquette, Arizona State, Iowa, Penn State, Ole Miss and a host of others, just crazy
Maybe you will see this some also to benefit mid-majors. He had dropped a little bit it appears in rankings, but still likely had a commitable offer from a couple “Majors”. The new transfer rule you could see kids go this route. Likely be a starter from Day 1 at Western Michigan as opposed to spot minutes or at best 7-9 man at “Major” there first year or two. He can transfer (without sitting out a year, once) so he can transfer to a major in Year 2, 3 or 4 and pick the Major at that time that has a good program and has Major minutes available. so many new twists since the relaxing to the transfer rule.
With as many times he transferred high schools or AAU teams, I'm sure he will either back out of his commitment to WMU or transfer to a new school every year he is in college
