Haha okay okay I doubt I could’ve made 14/15 from 30 feet. My point is a D1 guy making deep 3s in an empty gym in one drill isn’t making me freak out.

Def makes me excited since it’s looks like better scoring than Thompson, Golden, and bolden. Just saying

Weather he plays much or not this year, which will most likely be not much there is potential there to be really really excited about

To add to this, about 6 years ago Penn State signed some Euro kid named Deivis Zemgulis. A video circulated where he makes like 30 3s in a row. Everyone got super excited for him. Dude barely played, shot 25% from deep for his career, and had a really funky motion where he turned his legs sideways before shooting.

Taylor won’t be that, but yeah this video shows he has the ability, but it doesn’t mean much.

Taylor was never recruited for his shooting ability. His primary asset is a knack for slashing to the basket. If he can continue to show progress defensively, shooting would be considered a bonus. No one expected Harris to be a shooter either.

Additionally, I'd caution against over hyping Taylor and keep expectations on a realistic level, considering he is a true freshman.

I think there is a realistic space between "oh he looks a little better than I anticipated based on his ranking and hype compared to Thomas" and not going full "Elijah Brown is gonna be in the League!"

Yeah my hope is he can get an efficient 5-7 ppg. Normally I’d go with 6-8 or so but we have a lot of guys who will likely play more than him.

My hope for any freshman who plays is that they can get grasp the defense and play with energy. Points are kind of a bonus to me. 5-7 would be cool.

I think 5-7 keeps a kid feeling engaged and important to the team. I think that psychologically that’s important.

Depends on the kid and situation surrounding the team. FWIW, Elijah Brown scored 6.5 ppg his freshman season at Butler.

I always thought Elijah freshman season was Awesome.

If you can average in the 6-10 range as a freshman I am very excited

I'd much prefer wins over a high scoring frosh anytime. BU was 14-17 when Brown played and there were no major injuries as an excuse.

I guess Roosevelt Jones snapping his wrist doesn’t count as a major injury anymore... whatever, can’t change the past unless you’re this Kang fellow

I stand corrected. Like Scooby, Jones was lost prior to the season as I recall and should have accounted for at least a few more in the win column that season.

I have loved seeing all the clips from this dude at practice + looks like he has spent considerable time in the weight room. You love to see it.
