Now that I think about it more doesn't Shelvin being unable to stay with one team even with great advanced metrics argues against your fail proof belief that stats are verything?
He doesn't have great advanced metrics (or even good advanced metrics). Looking at traditional points/rebounds/assists stats on a per-minute basis does not make those traditional statistics advanced. Looking at traditional stats on a per minute basis is just a quick and easy way to make an apples-to-apples comparison of players' traditional stats - "if each of these guys played the same number of minutes, what would a comparison of their traditional stats look like?".
His offensive and defensive efficiency ratings are both below average. His counting stats (points/assists, etc.) are decent on a per-minute basis. The latter is the reason he can stay in the league (along with playing a difficult position and having great intangibles). But the former is the reason he has to bounce around and doesn't play starter minutes.
So his advanced metrics are not great or even good but his counting stats are decent and his offensive and defensive efficiency ratings are below average while having great intangibles. Got it.
Bolded = the same things. Yes, his advanced metrics are not great. Yes, his counting stats are OK on a per-minute basis. Yes, he's got great intangibles per the coaches he's had. It's not as complicated as you're trying to make it seem.
Any solid updates from anyone on how kelan is doing in Germany
I saw one thing on the website that he was averaging 15 a game over there
9.6 points and 2.9 rebounds per game through 7 games.
