Khalif Battle Transferring

You could see the writing on the wall with his role diminishing towards the end of the year. Especially considering how little guard depth we had.

I wish him well. Even if he knew he was leaving, he remained engaged and a good teammate to the very end.

Ultimately, I think this gives us an opportunity and flexibility to bring in a transfer that can hopefully help right away in the short-term. In the long-term, I think Tate can bring a similar impact.

 

I know not the right thread but is Jeff Meyer retiring still? Wouldn't that have happened by now so they could hire someone else?

 

Really figured someone was leaving with all of the transfers Butler had expressed interest in since the end of the season. Admire the way Khalif seemed to stay engaged, keeping a positive attitude, & cheering on his teammates until the end.

Some of the posters on here have said he would be. I was just asking if it is actually true. We will see

 

i hate to see it. He's the one player we have with NBA potential. Definetly the most athletic player we might of ever had at Butler. Someone had a post early in the year about the NBA scouts coming to a Butler game to see Battle,he has the tools. Sure he may have struggled but he was still a freshman. I feel he should of got more time than he did. There are always a ton of freshman in big time programs that get plenty of time he should of been one of them. Good luck to Khalif I hope he lights it up wherever he goes, I'm sure he will

Like others have said, The Butler Way isn’t for everyone. Surprised but not surprised. I’m not going to trash him. He’s a talented kid and it’s too bad it didn’t work out here.

Concur. I don’t think anyone else bolts. Doesn’t mean it can’t happen, but Battle is all I’ve ever heard.

 

Keep in mind, all of the following can be true:

(A) Battle has immense *potential*
(B) Battle is a bad fit for Butler
(C) Butler is better off without him
(D) Battle is not a bad kid

So where does the bad fit part come in?

 

He’ll end up at a school like Buffalo or maybe Iona..that might be perfect for him. Didn’t mesh with LJ or the butler way go play for Slick Rick.

Seemed something was going on towards the end of the season but I will say through all that Battle looked like a great teammate and was the first person cheering on the bench
