The discussion had gotten way off topic and inappropriate, so I just deleted the entire conversation. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
Kyle Neddenriep just tweeted that he'll be cutting his list to six today. So has one school snuck in recently?
Maybe threw us in because an official visit is unnecessary? Then will take officials to the other 5? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
2 people this week listed a predicted top 5 (both included Butler but were not the same) and told me Xavier was coming on hard and they weren't sure who would be knocked out if Xavier got into the top 5 instead. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
This list shows how well he's kept his recruitment close. Nobody I talked to listed Illinois or UConn. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
What a surprising list. Supposedly IU and X are the leaders. Good god please go to IU. Xavier recruiting has me truly perplexed. I've been there. And I don't get it. I have some suspicions but maybe the assistants are just remarkable salesmen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Um they are...Mack and Steele have been watching Wilkes since he was in middle school. We've always been on kids early but then couldn't close most because of our conference (see DSR) now that's not the same situation. Mack was also an assistant on USA basketball this year getting us in good position with several other 5 stars for 2017/18. When you have a great year a lot of kids take notice. Come to X play in front of 10,000 fans EVERY game. No football be the big man on campus. New weightroom opening in the fall...a track record of good development. Cintas getting upgrades for 17-18. Compete for a big east title and compete in NCAA tournament. If you stay 4 years we've graduated 90 straight seniors. By far biggest knock against Mack is getting kids to the league. But hopefully that'll be over soon. Last year was a good year to have a good year too with how many kids we will take in 2017. Mack has shown a knack for putting together a balanced roster and adapting to the game ala nova. Why not come to X and play with other really good players? We've got 3 committed- currently a top 10 class...we will be a ranked class no matter what. Scruggs and Wilkes would easily make it a top 5 class and perhaps better. Feel fee to have your suspicions but mack and X have been putting in work for years and years on the recruiting trail and it's now paying off. This isn't an overnight success by any means. We've been getting top 100 kids every year since Mack joined the staff and swinging for top 25 every year- but now we're in great position. Perhaps Wilkes saw Blueitt lead a top 10 last year in Xavier blue (likely same this year) and could see himself in that exact same role. Shoulda taken that mortgage bet since unc didn't make it as I said I wouldn't be surprised. Still don't think there is a clear leader. But X and IU are certainly top 3.
You're an idiot. The chances of a recruit not including someone in their Top 5 and still officially visiting them are minuscule. It just doesn't happen. Period. You made this claim when he still had an OV with UNC scheduled.
You do realize no big east program has football that detracts from the basketball following right? That pretty much every big east team has a nice weight room? That butler does more with its talent than X does with its (in terms of development)? That X was also a mid major 3 1/2 years ago? And please don't come on a butler forum and even imply that a round of 32 season is something that has helped lead to recruiting success. That is hilarious. None of those factors is satisfactory to account for the success they've had in getting students to go there. Don't act like the classes they've been pulling are commensurate with the caliber of program Xavier has and what it offers. They are not. They are over achieving. And to outsiders it may seem suspicious, but I leave open the possibility that they are exceptional salesmen.
A season doesn't need to be defined entirely by what happens in one game. Sucked a lot going out like we did but it happens unfortunately. Year before we went further this year I expect the same next. We were top 10 all season and that's very top of mind for a lot of these guys. Don't hate on me because Mack and X have put work in for a while now.
