LJ - should he stay or should he go?

  1. Fire him now and start the re-rebuild.

  2. Gets one more season, but two down years starts the trend and he's out.

  3. Two more seasons, if it ain't happening after four total years will it ever?

  4. Indefinite/Lifer...the guy bleeds Butler Blue and we need that coaching stability.

I’ll give y’all Nored; unforgivable omission on my part. I didn’t include Matta because I’m skeptical of the number of times his name came up this off season; not sure how much he wants to come back.

My name I always throw out is John Becker from Vermont. The guy always has a solid team and recruits in Indiana constantly.

John Brannen from NKU and Ben Jacobson from UNI have a ton of potential as well I believe.

Others I’d halfway consider are Michael Lewis, Nored (I still feels a bit too young personally), Dane Fife (yeah, I know most won’t agree with me here), Matt McMahon from Murray St, Dan Muller from Illinois St, and James Jones from Yale. I just don’t think Thad wants to coach anymore.

Nored’s career has been nothing short of miraculous. He has gone from a high school coaching job to an AC at a mid major to a HC in a development league to an AC in the NBA all in less than seven years.

And none of that makes him a strong candidate for a head coaching job at a Power 6 school. Let's be honest if he wasn't an alumnus you guys would throw a fit if he was even mentioned for the Butler job. Is he the can't miss guy you would bring in to right-the-ship ? Besides if he wants to coach college basketball he needs to be working in college basketball.

Wasn’t he recently on the “short list” for a head coaching position in college?

He was mentioned in connection with the Vandy job where the athletic director has all of two months experience as an athletic director and whose previous athletic administration experience came in the G League.

Not to mention he gave Jerry Stackhouse a six year deal.

It’s not like Nored has a lack of experience. Plus he is a younger guy that can relate to recruits. He also can share stories and point at those final four banners and say he was apart of something special. I wouldn’t mind playing for him or having my son play for him. Now is he a good in game coach? I’m not sure but he does have head coaching experience.

We had so many this spring that I don’t even remember all the names.

I didn’t even know there was a “report” function until I found myself using it twice a page for February and March.

I don’t think I’ve used it since either.
