Thus far, Smith's experience at Mizzou has been a 180 from Illinois. He's averaging an efficient 12-6-2, leading the team in defensive win shares and leading the team in BPM by a mile.

Maybe a sophomore jump? Maybe a hot start to the season? Maybe really damning on Underwood..

Doesn’t seem that Underwood is doing well at Illinois. Initially he recruited mostly guards then over recruited kids like Smith. Not sure the make up of his team now

I like the future of Illinois. He has the placing some intense defense and there is some good young talent on the roster. I think they get back to the tournament in a year or two.

The NCAA gave him a waiver, but I haven't seen it reported what the basis was. These days it seems like a random lottery to get a waiver.

Mizzou applied for a waiver for Dru Smith at the same time as Mark Smith. One was denied, the other granted.

My understanding is that E'ville did not sign off on Smith.
