Anyone know anything about Mason Gillis?
I see we are his 4th offer after Toledo, Miami (OH), and IUPUI. Purdue has also visited him it appears.

Butler has to offer New Castle kids, its like state law.

But I really like the offer. I've seen him multiple times, and I think he has the potential to blow up like Aaron Henry. He's a pretty physical, yet athletic 4. I believe his dad played for Ball State (and is one of their all-time rebounders).

Felt like it was only a matter of time before high majors started offering Gillis.

He's a strong athletic kid that just keeps getting better. Really expanded his shooting range between freshman and sophomore years.

Strong inside player at the high school level but I think will be more of a face up player in college.

Dad played at North Central and Ball State and his mom ran track at Ball State.

I think his other offers right now are IUPUI, Miami (OH) and Toledo. Weird that Ball State hasn't offered.

Plays baseball in the spring. His hit in Little League sent New Castle to the Little League World Series.

Since we offered, what is the over/under until Ohio State offers?

Here's Jamie Shaw's report from Rick Lewis Indiana top 80 event

Also had pretty solid AAU season for G3

I would like to see some video but I think I agree if this recruitment goes into his senior year more high majors will come calling.

FWIW, now that New Castle has been bumped down to 3A I wouldn't be shocked to see them win a state championship in 2019. Obviously Gillis is good, and they have a guard in that class named Bumbalough that has a couple D1 offers as well.

Wonder if LJ has packed it in on the 2018 class and is focusing on 2019?

On a side note, Bumbalough is leading the nation in both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. He’s going to have to choose which sport to play in college.

Agree, that could make sense. We're loaded on underclassmen right now. LJ could use a solid grad transfer at the 4 next year, but still think he chases 2018 Top 100 decommits.

Like the offer. Sounds like this guy will blow up over time.

I think he's just reached the point now where it's necessary to get 2019 going , no? Obviously he hasn't shut the book on '18 because he literally just finished visiting Herro, who is a 2018.

Interesting. We played New Castle every year when I was in high school in the early/mid 2000's and they were pretty terrible. They also ran the ball almost every play.

Not saying much in the NCC. Terrible football conference.

New Castle is in the Hoosier Heritage Conference these days. School population has dropped quite a bit. Losing the local auto factories has taken its toll on all of those medium size Indiana towns.
