Some interesting graphs on spending versus wins.
So, apparently Accounting is really bad at some of these schools.
Amazing 6 of the schools can match R and E to the $.
Clearly the return on expenses has been very favorable for BE Xavier, Butler and Nova. Not so much for IU.
That's pretty standard across college athletics, which are generally treated as an entity within the university that should be revenue neutral. Most athletic directors spend every penny they're given and not a penny more.
I'm always amazed by the schools - like new Big East member Connecticut - that run huge deficits year in and year out.
The real question isn't whether a school zeroes out its athletic budget, but what are the sources of revenue. Schools that are living on t.v. and gate money are fine. Schools that are living on student fees and/or a supplement from the university's operating budget are not.
It’s like filling out your form 8889. Of course your HSA spending matches your contributions. Nobody wants taxed on HSA contributions.

I'm too excited for this... All for updated all athletic facilities
Admit it or not, the university has been in high gear for the last few years racing to catch up with other schools. Whether it's a new scoreboard or new business school, kudos to all who are working their ass off to make BU better.
Let us hope this all pays off for the university, new dorms, new business school, renovations to existing buildings are all positives. Just think without Brad Stevens and his historic runs ten years ago none of this would have happened. Guess what? Butler would still be in the Horizon League, otherwise known as the bus league!
Speaking of money well spent... Stepped into Hinkle yesterday. The AC is on!! Scaffolding is coming down in the main gym and the new floor is being laid in the west gym.
When’s that west gym renovation suppose to be completed by?
Early September, according to Collier.
Did they put up new banners? Don’t respond if it’s bad news.
All were taken down and nothing has been put back up yet. Contractors have to get out of the way first.
Definitely new banners are going up. They’re gonna look nice too

Apparently recruiting $$ can’t buy results on the court after all. IU leads the nation in recruiting budget—not a great ROI in anyone’s book.
Check out this article from IndyStar: 'No apologies': Indiana basketball might not be back among nation's elite, but it sure spends like it https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/indiana/2019/08/20/indiana-basketball-spends-most-recruiting-any-school-country-iu-hoosiers-archie-miller-fred-glass/2001326001/
They have been doing great on the recruiting trail recently though. However, most have been in-state. Shouldn't they be cheaper to get?

OK, we went to the NIT in a terrible year and won no games - IU went to the NIT and won two ------ so is the money the answer?
Oh sheesh—sorry. Will pull a few factoids later.
