Man, not sure why I was replying to a post from 2019, but here we are. SIGH...getting old sucks.

Ms. Stax and I have finished our 2022 classic rock concert tour. Doobies, REO, Styx, Loverboy, Chicago, Brian Wilson and this past weekend Grand Funk Railroad at French Lick. Don’t out me, this is a pretty good year for a 69 year old! Give me my memories! I know only the skeletons of the original groups are touring, but being in the crowd with my people makes me 50 years younger.
If you are a fan of Chicago, check out Leonid and friends on YouTube. They do a fantastic job of recreating the sound.

The discussion over on one of the recruit's threads about the days being long and the years being short when you have young children got me thinking about this song from the new John Anderson tribute album "Something Borrowed, Something New".

The whole album is good, but this is the gem:

Don't know how many of you like the Foo's but the tribute concert yesterday was just spectacular. They're still one of my favorite rock acts. I don't know if there was a dry eye in the house when Taylor's son closed the last set. The kid was ridiculously good too.

I thought bringing Nandi on stage was cool. But this was awesome

Sierra just opened up a show at the khouse amp last week, she rocked it and stole the show

Also wife and I got to see tedeschi trucks last Thursday, still our favs, nothing like seeing Susan and Derek ripping it up on stage

New songs from them are so good also

Nice. Tedeschi Trucks Band is always a good time. I caught them last month in Raleigh and it was excellent.

I am dying to see Sierra live. She's so sporadic with her gigs though, it just hasn't happened. Everyone I know who has seen her says something similar about stealing the show.

Bunch of new albums were released Friday from artists I dig and I've been listening to them pretty much all weekend. The three I'm most interested in are the Dropkick Murphys "This Machine Still Kills Fascists", Tyler Childers "Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven", and Hayes Carll's "You Get It All (Deluxe Edition".

First, the Dropkick Murphys album is fantastic. They were given access to Woody Guthrie's unpublished writings and used those for all the lyrics. It's being billed as a country album, but it isn't really country or their usual punk either.

    My favorite track so far:

The Childers album is different. It's a concept album that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, but he finally gave my favorite song of his a studio recording:

And the Hayes Carll album is a reissue with some additional tracks that make an already great album even better.

    One of the new tracks:

The new billy string album announcement is gold and also the new charley Crockett from a few weeks ago May be my favorite yet

I'm an unabashed Childers fanatic, so I've listened to the new album a few times. The first disk "Hallelujah Versions" of Can I take My Hounds to Heaven and Purgatory are both incredible. I enjoyed Old Country Church, Way of the Triune God, and Angel Band, but not as much as the first two I listed. The instrumentals and Heart You've Been tending are alright, but not my thing.

I wasn't a big fan of the "Joyful Noise" disk, but it is an interesting piece nonetheless.
