https://m.facebook.com/story.php?st...WFZuEEFSYl&id=100059386729629&mibextid=qC1gEa This is a really interesting article about how Matt Painter recruited his current team with some approaches that we hope Coach Matta is and will be using to help resucitate the Butler program.
Wasn’t LJ in on three of the guys spotlighted in the article at one time, just couldn’t close it? I feel like some of LJs targets were of BE/B10 caliber, he just couldn’t close on those guys. And let’s be honest, he’s no Matt Painter, and I imagine the implementation of the talent would’ve been different. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
-20 on the boards and little from anywhere other than their center would do it. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
Indiana teams hold down the top spot and the two bottom spots in the Missouri Valley Conference. Indiana State leads the league at 6-1, while Valpo and Evansville each are 0-7. Evansville is now 3-32 in its last 35 Missouri Valley Conference games. Ragland has a big job. IUPUI also is winless in the Horizon League at 0-8.
The SEC had two 40 point blowouts today with Alabama beating LSU 106-66 and Texas A&M winning at South Carolina 94-53. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
South Carolina with quite the letdown after beating Kentucky at Kentucky! Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
Some oddities in today's version of Kenpom - UCONN is still in the #6 position. St.Mary's is 8th while Gonzaga is 10th. Marquette is 11th while Xavier is 15th. After 4 straight losses OSU still commands position #17. Villanova is #71 with an 8-10 record.
Is it still OK to be ragging on Louisville, or are they a sympathy case by now? Either way, the latest Kenpom numbers have them at No. 297, two places below the powerhouse that is Chicago State. Edit - even worse in the NET, Louisvile are at 334 (out of 363)
Never in my lifetime did I think I’d ever see Chicago St. ahead of Louisville in the NET rankings in late Jan. To their credit I think Chicago St. is much improved as they’ve been more competitive this season. They won @ Coastal Carolina last night. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
Emoni Bates putting up a monster game on CBSSN. 34 points on 8 made 3s with over 13 minutes left in the game.
That was cray. Never questioned the talent but even so that was wild. Also NBE related I'm on k-state at +6 and they are down 3. Gonna be a tight one.
I watch Butler games. I watch Fordham games. I see Darius Quisenberry - Youngstown transfer, two-time All-Horizon First-Team selections - lead a team hungry to stop being A-1o bottom feeders. Seeing them beat Saint Louis tonight by 10, first time Fordham has had 18 wins since 2007, beating the #1 team in the A-10. It's hard to say, but it's a lot more fun to see a team fight as much as Fordham does, especially in comparison to what's happening at Hinkle now.
I watched the second half of the St. Louis @ Fordham game tonight. Looked like a great atmosphere. I agree their players definitely put forth the effort and seem to be learning how to win as 18-4 is an impressive record. But poor SOS and the A10 seemingly being a little down this year will likely make postseason play a long shot for the Rams. Still, way more enjoyable to watch than Butler. O$U is down 16 to Wisconsin at home at half-time and appear to be on their way to their 7th loss in 8 games. The Buckeyes really are not very good this year, are they?
